Violence on TV....

Does anyone here work at all in the broadcast industry that would be able to awnser the following questions:

What is your take on television violence and how it effects children?

Do you think that there are viable options out there for parents to keep negative programing away from their children?

What is your take on the Kid Friendly TV Programming act of 2005 (says there should be a subscription for kid friendly TV)?

Basically i'm supposed to do a "interview" with someone in the broadcast industry, and since i'm lazy and dont have time to set it up with someone local, I was just wondering if anyone here would be able to awnser that. If you can, I'd need your name and where you work, just for credability. You could PM It.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Re: Violence on TV....

I work at Malcolm Inc. and I believe that due to the decay of our moral fabric, to remain competitive in the industry I HAVE to show violence and sex on TV. Look at PBS and any other "wholesome" channel. It just isn't workin' out.

take away the tv... only give the kids dvds that you approve of beforehand (now most tv shows also come out commercial free on dvd as well... its not just movies anymore).

Re: Violence on TV....

(unfortunately I can't help you, but I'm still going to voice my opinion)

I thought that's what the V-Chip was for? To be able to curb the violent content that is on TV? Parents need to take more of an initative to partake in what their children are doing, as opposed to bitching about the things they have little to no control over.

No one would pay for kid-friendly TV, especially when every TV set, newer cable boxes and satellite receivers have parental controls built right in.
