Casey Rabach

Now I'm not one to start frivolous threads, but this time I think it might be in order. I'm not talking about this single holding penalty that put us out of possible field goal range, I'm talking about a list of penalties/rewards that have come along with Rabach. Sure, he is an upgrade over Friedman and Raymer, but how much?

I'm only saying this because today and in the past weeks I haven't seen anything that makes me think we don't need someone else to bring in to at the very LEAST give him some competition. I've noticed he isn't strong enough to attack up the middle and rarely gets much of a push. Today, I'm trying to supress the events of the whole day because I'm not letting this week get to me as it did last week.

On the whole, I was happy to see Jacobs finally make himself known, (surprisingly) as a posession receiver. I'm also happy to see the turnovers stop (at least for this game) and end up on the plus side for one. Royal needs to find out how to catch or THAT might be a draft need as well. Just some thoughts after the game. Agree or disagree? I just think that overall our line play has been solid with the exception of center. It seems that when plays blow up, it's because of pressure up the middle.

Re: Casey Rabach

I watch a lot of tape and I see him as just average; he's not a great liability or asset.

PS-I just had to throw that "I watch a lot of tape" business.

He defintley wasent the aquisition that I thought we got. I actually think everyone, including myself and all Redskins fans, really thought we were getting some super pro all star center. He's just an average player. That being said, I still think he'll be our center for the next few years.

I have to stick up for casey. Other than today you really don't hear his name called that much. And that is a good thing. Him and #77 randy thomas are the best linemen we got.

Re: Casey Rabach

welcome to the boards redskinsfan1978.

@TMC: i think rabach is definitely an upgrade over our backups. I think he was doing a pretty decent job on the line this year. That penalty on him at the end really cost us though. One of the rare moments when the center costs you the game.

Re: Casey Rabach

I 2 thought he'd be a huge improvement for us but he's been regularly beaten by d-tackles and thus far has only proven to be a marginal upgrade over raymer and friedman.
I think royal's play pissed me off more than rabach's bad penalty cuz royal dropped 3 extremely catchable balls and I believe 2 of those would be guaranteed first downs.

Re: Casey Rabach

You wouldn't expect an experienced player to make a play like that right in front of the referee. It's just another illustration of some of the plays that truly makes you scratch your head at crucial times in games. I just cannot understand what he possibly could have been thinking. Shawn Springs said in the post-game locker room interview "He wish he had scored on that tipped INT" and I'm willing to bet the rest of the team does too.

Re: Casey Rabach

It was a blatant hold that did not help spring Portis on the run. Rabach should know better than that.
