now, did you mean better, or 'butter'?

I've been stressing the fact that our run D is looking weak since week 2. Its getting to the point where we're gonna get seriously exploited this season if some major changes dont take place. Phillip Daniels is the Number one guy (if you notice, with the exception of Tatum Bell's one run to the right, that left side is the side we've been getting gashed at) that I personally noticed that has been missing tackles consistantly, or not blocking back to force a running back into the defense. Even if he's not in on the tackle every play, he's got to contribute in forcing the runner inside, and he just hasn't been able to do that.

I hate to single out a guy after we lost that game as a complete team, but I do feel that he's the main reason we're getting gashed on the left side runs. I'm sure it has a bit to do with the health of the interior d-line, and the secondary, whereas we would normally be using linebackers and corners to get pressure, and get into the backfield to stop runners in their tracks, and now we cant do that at the risk of getting exploited in the middle and on big plays.

I just hope some of our 'core' guys (griffin saleve'a, springs etc..) get healthy on D so we can start attacking again and finish strong.

Offensively, what the hell was that???? We moved the ball well against some good D's this year, and while a 31st ranking for the giants may have been a bit misleading, there's no way that our offense should have been stopped like that. How many touches did portis end up with?? I know he got hurt and sat out a while, but you have to establish a run, or at least a threat of a run, in order to open up a passing game (or visa versa)... but they knew we were going to come out passng and they were prepared for it.... but the O-line looked horrible. Samuels and Brown got owned by yet another no - name defensive end. Thats twice this year and that has got to be stopped immediately. If we get less than 3 secs. on avg. to throw a ball without being blitzed, then yes the season is over.

I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but if we cant correct a few things, then we may be doomed.
