Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
We don't need to extend Allen and Thomas yet, though we could save some cap space on Allen's extension. I was going to say I am surprised at having heard nothing about Scherrfs contract , but actually that is the way they seem to operate now. A good process but leaves us fans waiting so long without any information. Wonder if they are even talking yet, I would hope that they have exchanged ideas as soon as he season ended.

I can’t keep straight what they can do when...always seems silly to me.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I love the way Allen goes about his business. He is all about trying to win. He is a team guy that is a culture setting type player that Ron seems to love. But to me he is such a JAG. I thought we would see so much more disruption from him in the 4-3 and it just didn't happen.
I'm on the fence about giving him a big contract. Payne and Matt I to me are the must haves. |

This is where I am. Allen's leadership is supposedly off the charts - which isn't something we can easily see as fans. But Matt I and Payne (and even Settle) have shown as much or more to me. It'd be great to keep them all. But somewhere else would suffer. Capologists earn their dough figuring all this out for sure. |

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
This was a really nice breakdown of Allen's game, sorry if you don't have a subscription
Jonathan Allen dominating from the inside of Washington’s defensive line Much more than just a guy. He also graded out higher than Payne and Settle this year according to PFF. |

Yeah, I'm not sure where the J A G stuff comes from with regard to Allen. He's a beast and a natural born leader.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I think he has played better in the 4-3 this year than previous years, and he should be better in his second year in JDR defence

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I'd value a solid guy like that at DT more than a guy that flashes 2-3 times a game but disappears the rest of the time.
I know many won't like it, but I'd have Matt I as trade bait. Unless he has come off his injury badly, he's shown enough to be valued and the rest of the DL showed enough to say he's not essential. I'd cash in while his value is high, just in case he struggles with injury going forward, and knowing you have the talent to not miss him too much. Assuming RK is gone (or re-signed cheap), that leaves 5 DL to worry about re-signing in the next 4 years, rather than deciding from 7, and could net us a valuable draft pick or 2. |
