Rookies and fringe players can only do so much in practice, even in controlled scrimmages, you need a competitive game environment to bring out those competitive juices and prep them for the regular season. There's something a game brings out, even a PS game, that you can't get from practice.

I agree with much of what you say but I still think they need a min of 4 preseason games When I played I hated them but they really did help the team.
