Re: Portis Interview 9/9
Man I thought I was getting excited, then I listened to this interview- now I am flat out fired up!
After I heard CP's interviewe and listened to a couple of short bites from Moss, these guys seem very cocky, much more than last year. I can't wait to see how we shake out. |

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
I think Portis is just to trying to mess with Fantasy Football players' heads. I wish he hadn't slipped all the way down to #9. Oh well, when he ends up rushing for 1800 yards and 20 TDs I'll be happy.

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
I just have to post again because I am so excited about Portis's interview today!!! Portis will play, AND he will start! Why, if he is available, would he back up anyone? What is that all about. Is Gibbs throwing a bone to Betts? All this injury stuff is BS. Shawn Springs is the only guy we won't see on the field on Monday!

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
I just think it's effin hysterical that he declared himself 93.9% healthy after today's practice. He then said that playing on Monday gave him an extra day, meaning he's hoping to get to 99% healthy so he can then be a game-time decision. He said that if he played Sunday, he'd probably only be 98.5% healthy, and that wouldn't be good.
Then after that interview he went in and got a shower. On his way out to his car he said to the reporter, now after the shower I feel 96.1% healthy. LOL You know when he starts joking around, that means he's playing in all likelihood. No costume this week, but that interview was just as funny. washingtonpost.com

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
This doesn't make any sense.
If he's well enough to play, but not well enough to start, what difference does it make if he spells Betts here and there for 10 carries or so? Even in a limited role the same thing could happen -- he can re-dislocate his shoulder. The chance of that happening doesn't decrease simply because he's lower on the depth chart by one position. To me, the thought of Portis coming back early doesn't get me excited, it only makes me nervous. We'll be fine for one game against the Vikings with Betts, Duckett, and Cartwright. Why not give him just one more week to completely heal up? |

Who knows what Saunders is going to do though. They might designate Portis as the backup just so they can see how Betts does in there. If Betts is effective why even put Portis in. If Betts sucks and the Skins need a boost, then maybe Saunders will unleash the hound. Lots of variables at play. I'm sure they're taking every precaution with him. In the end we have no idea what the plan is, the coaches are being very shady lately, very secretive.

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
you can tell portis is perfectly fine by the way hes talking...i think he'll start, or at least get most of the carries...they'll probably take him out more on passing downs so he doesnt have to block as much

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
the whole portis thing was probably so they couldnt game plan for us, a fast agile back or a north south type of runner, if he plays we have both

Re: Portis Interview 9/9
its a question of playing possum. I hope portis is available in some capacity even if it is as a decoy. We need him to dress for the game. We have roughly 33 hours and all questions will be answered. I truly believe its a gametime decision. But i do have some faith in the running back by committee philsophy if he cant go. A little ladell, a little rock and a little tj. go skins.
