Re: Brunell to Birds?
I thought Brunell's arm look fine against the Stealer's and the int. was the WR's fault as the pass hit him in the face. I thought if anything he was throwing the ball too hard. No I'm not looking for him to start but there is no way we can let him go.

Re: Brunell to Birds?
while I'm not opposed to trading Brunell, there cant possibly be any market for a 30 something qback, who is on his last legs. with that being said, he knows our system, and is an adequate back up

Re: Brunell to Birds?
Two points:
1. Why would the Falcons want Brunell? I guess Musgrave is still there, but their emphasis will be on youth. I don't think they have any interest in an old-timer at this point. 2. Collins has some nice numbers, but (and I will probably say this one hundred times in the next three weeks) his arm is absurdly weak. If he were in a situation where he had to get the ball downfield, he will either humiliate himself in front of millions of people or eat the ball, probably the latter. He is still the same check down artist we grew to hate last pre-season. I suspect that Brunell will wind up with the number 2 job. Not that it's any skin off my nose. I don't have a dog in this fight. (whoops)

Re: Brunell to Birds?
I don't think we can afford it. The cap hit would hurt I imagine at this point.

Re: Brunell to Birds?
W00t! Another how-to-get-rid-of-Brunell thread!
I mean, I think the guy's past his prime and we need to eventually look elsewhere for a backup. (Cause I don't particularly like him as a QB anymore) But common knowledge is Brunell isn't going anywhere (at least not this season) and haters will continue to seeth and the supporters will continue to seeth about the haters. Poor Mods. You guys must be shaking your heads at these Brunell threads right about now.

P.S. Have you noticed that even the "Poor Mods" have responded with comments to the thread? I know this subject has been discussed at length before, but it has resurfaced due to an injury to a Falcon's backup QB and thus rekindled the discussion. |

Re: Brunell to Birds?
I can't believe no one has said anything about giving us a LG in return!
Brunell is too valuable as a backup. We would trade him if we got something major in return, .e.g. a starting LG or DE. |

Again, I hope that, barring a beneficial trade, Mark Brunell wears #8 all year for us. I also hope he never has to launder his jersey.

I stand by my post. I think Collins could easily throw as many checkdowns as M.B. Remember he is an expert in the offense, so he knows every swing pass, safety valve, and flair control like the back of his hand. Again I don't have a dog in this fight. (why hasn't this expression been purged from the language? I think it's awful) I just want people to be aware of what they are buying into.

Re: Brunell to Birds?
I just heard Clayton and Mort speculate and neither mentioned Brunell. Mort said the Falcons will likely be looking for depth, not a starter. Unless someone like Simms becomes available, but again no mention of Brunell at all.

Re: Brunell to Birds?
This is not worth a discussion. Not going to happen. Gibbs won't let it happen.
If I were the Falcons, I would be angling for Todd Collins. He's worth a draft choice. Brunell is not. THAT's worth a discussion (and I am not advocating that). |

Re: Brunell to Birds?
I would trade Touchdown Jesus for a half empty bottle of Milwaukee's Best Ice and feel guilty for taking advantage of them.

Why do you have to keep mocking his faith?

Mark knows, understands our system & can be a good backup when called upon. He's not going anywhere. Nor should he.
