Re: If it could happen in the NBA, what about the NFL?
I've listened to discussion on the radio and I have spoken to friends about this
VERY VERY VERY hard to do for an NFL ref. I don't think it has to do with motivation FRPLG. I was reading something that said that much of the motivation was just the thrill of affecting the game and the thrill of betting. The NBA ref was making 250,000 a year. BUt yeah, i'm sure money does have to do with it quite a lot. It is very hard for a NFL ref to do it. - FIrst thing, it takes a lot more to affect a nfl game. How many Pass interference calls can a ref make? How many holding calls against a team without being noticed? How many no calls without fans calling foul and if that happens in 4 games in one season it raises more eyebrows. NBA games are easier to manipulate. A betting structure in the NBA that is easily manipulated is overall points. A ref just needs to call 2 more fouls a quarter and can increase the points for the game significantly. - NExt a ref in the NBA makes a call and there is no dispute by other refs usually. THere are 7 refs on the field in football. The whole crew would all have to be in on it to: 1: affect the game significantly 2: not have the calls noticed by the other refs. |
