Re: Skins/Bills Game: Atmosphere At FedEx Today

It was a very weird mood to say the least. I was really suprised to see so many empty seats..and the crowd noise ebbed and flowed. It wasn't your usual raucus crowd from start to finish.

I think the team was drained and so were the fans.

But to your question, SGG..fans were booing in the stands and during Wapo live.

Re: Skins/Bills Game: Atmosphere At FedEx Today

I just wanted to clear something up after reading some other threads. Monksfan, SBF, and Rob feel free to chime in since you guys were in the stands.

During the moment of silence there were a smattering of cheers and "I love You Seans" accross the stadium. It felt awkard, but given the circumstances, you know, all the rules go out the window. As far as the Cowboys fans being silent during the moment of silence, I wouldn't expect a Cowboy fan or any other NFL stadium to yell out "we love you Sean" because he 'aint their Sean, he's ours. So while those handful of fans probably didn't display the best decorum I wouldn't exactly chalk this up as, especially given the raw emotion involved, disrespectful. I honestly think it was a combination of fandom and raw emotion.

As I've said earlier, the crowd was displeased with Joe Gibbs. From the time I got out of my seat at the end of the game until I got on the Metro to head home, many fans were expressing their disatisfaction.

Well during the moment of silence I was walking back from the mob of folks crowded around two police officers who were passing out the #21 towels so I wasn't there for it. A friend of min said that he heard the people yelling it on the tv broadcast and it upset him a little. I can understand it because you do have that raw emotion where you want to say something and everyone knows. Myself, I wouldn't have done it because it places the emphasis on you and not to the man that the silence is for. That silence was for him not for that specific fan. However, I can understand why they did it.

The guys that I were with were yelling for Joe's head. Like I said earlier I honestly can let it go. I felt really bad to see Fred Smoot on the sideline in tears. Seeing that let me really just enjoy the game itself as opposed tp the outcome. Yeah I wanted them to win but I think it was Smoot who just laid on the field after the field goal. I felt bad for them because they really wanted to win but they didn't. They as well as the coaches had to deal with going out there and playing that game. Sucks to lose but it doesn't matter to me.

Re: Skins/Bills Game: Atmosphere At FedEx Today

I heard a few "I love you Seans" during the moment of silence and also way too many people still wearing a hat during the National Anthem. WTF? I heard one guy yelling at others to remove their hats. Thousands and thousands kept their hats on in disrespect to this Nation.

I heard some disapproval about Gibbs and the Team but really no more then you hear at any home game loss IMHO.

I thought the crowd was quite loud at times really. It never gets as loud as RFK with half as many people but the 12th Man was very much doing his part LOUDLY. Rock is a crowd favorite too as many yelled his name.

We came, we gave tribute, we played and God opened the Heavens and let his tears fall on us all as it rained.

That will go down as one of the most memorable days I ever went to a game win or not.

Hail Skins!

I so wish I could have gotten a Taylor towel for all the Warpath brethren. I gave mine to a good friend who couldn't be there.

The people who were yelling didn't really bother me all that much. I too wish they would have remained silent, but oh well.

Man, that game really made me miss Taylor.

Fans are pussies, me and my buddy where we were sitting had to yell at other fans to make some god damn nouise and swing their towels on pivitul 3rd down plays, field goals, pretty much any play that buffalo needed, but to no avail. And also, i thought this game was going to be sold out, but there were sooo many empty seats

yup kind of a weird vibe going on at the stadium, nice to see everyone remain standing for the skins first drive thoo, crowd got real loud when they showed they were going for it on 4th, JC and others had to give the crowd the "hush down now" signal . . . no "sean taylor" or "S . . T..." chant broke out thoo

just kinda hard to cheer or get pumped on a day like that.

diehardskin - yeah a good portion of skins fans are vaginas as you put it; telling you to sit down when our D is on the field, not showing up to the ST game because of a 70% chance of rain but thats what you get when most of the season ticket holders are upper class fair weather (pun intended) fans with the prices the way they are . . . sometimes it sucks being lumped together with these people

There was a few empty seats scattered but for the most part it was a good crowd. It's kind of hard to get to pumped when its 9 to 5.

The tribute was very moving though. There was alot of ST support out there which was great to see. Not alot of exciting plays though. CP ran for 50 yards on 25 carries for god sake...not too exciting.

I knew we weren't going to lose this game, though, not yesterday. However, we decided that we going to go conservative and try to "out Gibbs" em. Then i knew that we blew it. Unfortunately, the fans have become used to it. I've become used to. I used to be a glass half full fan, now not so much. So maybe that's partly your answer.

It was a shame that during a moment of silence to honor a fallen Redskin, that you had people who didn't have enough respect to keep their damn mouth shut. Sorry, but only a complete moron would do such a thing, and if I offend someone, so be it. And I saw a few people with their hats on during the National Anthem. Some people will never understand...

It was certainly a weird vibe at FedEx yesterday. Went with a friend of mine, taking the Landover shuttle in, and caught up with a few friends at their tailgate for about 10 minutes before heading in. Got to our seats in time for the start of the honoring. Watched a Redskins fan (female) look like a total ignoramus by throwing not 1 but 2 chicken tenders at a Buffalo fan (yes the Buffalo fan was mouthy, but not disrespectful at all...until he said I will whip your ass when our entire section just happened to go silent). Stood for most of the 2nd half, watched in awe as the Skins gave the game away, watched another fan get held back by 2 people to not go after more Buffalo fans, and had a solemn walk back to the Landover shuttle in the rain.

Yeah, I parked in that random ass parking lot all skewed out of the way so my walk back was quite humbling. We sat in a good hour and a half of traffic and just sort of talked about the experience. I didn't go to the game for a win, I went just to be there.

I wasn't disappointed par se, but a win would have felt better.

On my walk back I witnessed a brawl between fans and it was pretty funny. A few dudes started slugging it out, and some big Redskins fan just open field tackled the Buffalo fan from behind. It was pretty funny.

Overall it was a somber experience. The CP touchdown was great (I'll post the video of it in a bout 30 min after it uploads to webshots). It was good to see the boys come back. At any rate.. I've got some cleaning to do, so I'll let this shit upload, and then post a link up in a little bit.

Cheers.
