A little bit unfair. The WCO actually has a good track record in the NFL. The Chuck-n-Duck, not so much.

fun and gun < wco.

I am worried about being 20M over the cap while changing offensive philosophy. I really don't know why that move was made if we were happy with the direction we were heading. If we had not committed to a wco, I wonder if we'd be introducing someone like Grimm as HC right now.

I maybe be unfair, maybe I 'am not as forgiving, I remember the past with a ding bat owner we have..lol And as I have said I Hope it works with Zorn he still young where he could be here for a long time, I just like knowing that we have a HC that will be here. Gibbs was great. Maybe my exspections are to high..

Well the systems aren't the same, and neither is their experience coaching in the NFL.

Otherwise, I can see the comparison

You wouldn't be a Redskins fan if you didn't have high expectations for this team. But, consider this to ease your mind; Joe Gibbs has put his seal of approval on Jim Zorn. To me, Jim Zorn is just like Joe Gibbs. Zorn is the type of coach who pays close attention to detail, even tempered, and is a great teacher.

In regards to the comparison of the WCO and Spurrier's offense. There is no comparison. The only comparison you can make is that both passed to set up the run. And in Spurrier's offense, the running game was next to nothing. In the west coast offense, the running back plays an extremely important role, even though the offense is designed to pass first. The WCO is a very balanced attack, unlike SS's offense.

As far as the poll goes, I wish there was an option for "mixed feelings" because that's exactly the way I would answer.

It's how I feel too. I was very excited about bringing him on as our offensive coordinator. And I think he can be a strong head coach, but I believe he and the team could have benefitted from having someone else as the head coach (someone with experience) instead of being thrown into the fire. My fear is that he'll be a great coach...but for another team.

Anyhow, I decided that if in this past month so many people here were already able to definitively declare next season over because of coaches we were or were not considering that we could have a definitive poll like this

Thats for everyone here in the "Pass happy Z-Man camp." Plus the favorite canidate for an OC post right now is a former RB. In my opinion that seems like a great balance right ther.

Plus on a side note I think that the reason so many QB coaches have gone on to be succesful HC's is because anyone working from the QB position has to understand multiple facets of the game from WR routes, timing on running plays, protection schemes, audibles, and most importatnly how defenses try to stop an offense. Being a former QB Jim Zorn understands these aspects, and personally I think it'll go a long ways towards making him a succesful HC.

Ah, found it. Yeah, well this leadership seems to enjoy stringing people along. I don't have a tremendous amount of respect for them at this point.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Multiple Sources Confirm Jim Zorn Named Head Coach

Jim Fassel isn't to happy:

"At the end of the day," said Fassel, "Dan wanted to make a big splash, and I think he was worried about the Baltimore thing. He worried about the public relations (fallout), and he didn't know which way to go.

"I heard someone say there are no more George Youngs or Jim Finks in this league, people who really know the game. And I think that happened here. I don't think Dan surrounded himself with enough football people."
And also:

"Someone said to me that Jim Zorn has three jobs he hasn't done now," Fassel said. "He's a head coach, and he's never done it. He's an offensive coordinator, and he's never done it. And he's calling the plays, and he's never done it."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, I mean I understand being pissed off at Synder but taking shots at Z-Man is cheap.

Link?

I've got to agree with Fassel's sentiment there. Not saying Zorn won't work out, maybe he will, but seems like Snyder has managed to alienate a good number of people with the ways he's dealt with them. He's shown a whole lot of good football people the door and allowed Cerrato to steer the ship. I don't feel to good about how the thing played out. If they now kick EB to the curb it will just continue a disturbing trend. Until proven otherwise, I am really uncomfortable with the power Cerrato is wielding around here.

• On the circumstances that led to Zorn as the choice: "Vinny kept saying after every interview, 'Zorn.' And that's how we got there."

There's still room for an OC, QB coach, and possibly a RB coach depending on what goes down with Byner.
