49ers | J. Smith to visit team
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 00:14:25 -0800 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the San Francisco 49ers will be free agent DE Justin Smith's (Bengals) first visit of the offseason. Falcons | Team contacts M. Turner Fri, 29 Feb 2008 00:14:09 -0800 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Atlanta Falcons have contacted free agent RB Michael Turner (Chargers). The Falcons are trying to get Turner to visit Friday, Feb. 29. turning smith into an olb isn't the greatest idea i've ever heard. turner is just what the falcons need. a guy that can break tackles and make plays... with norwood as the #2, this might mean mcfadden ain't the guy the falcons want, which is good, cause long, long, ellis, or possibly ryan could probably make a bigger impact for them. |

Jets | Team to acquire Jenkins
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 00:17:08 -0800 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the New York Jets will acquire Carolina Panthers DT Kris Jenkins in exchange for a third- and fifth-round draft pick. interesting. I guess you gotta have a NT to sub for rogers when he gets worn out. if thats the case, this makes a ton of sense. |

Texans | Killings to retire
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 01:42:49 -0800 The Associated Press reports Houston Texans DT Cedric Killings (neck) said Thursday, Feb. 28, he will retire from the NFL after breaking his neck during the 2007 season. His injury wasn't expected to have lingering effects, but doctors told him he would be a high risk for permanent paralysis if he returned to the field. ex-skin scrubs... that really kinda sucks for him :/ |

Browns | Anderson rejects contract offer
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 01:29:21 -0800 The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns QB Derek Anderson has rejected the team's offer for a three-year contract worth $20 million with $10 million guaranteed. Anderson is now a restricted free agent and on the free-agent market. If Anderson signs with another team, the Browns would receive a first- and third-round draft pick as compensation. no one's going to take him at that price i don't believe. |

Re: Latest FA news from KFFL
If I'm the Vikings, I would definitely consider giving up a 1st and a 3rd for Anderson.

Re: Latest FA news from KFFL
I could see the Dolphins offering their 2nd (32nd pick, essentially a 1st) and a 4th or a pick next year for him. They probably have the worst QB situation in the NFL.

I heard yesterday that they are actually high on developing Beck and will likely go with him. But they'll probably look to add a veteran for insurance.

Re: Latest FA news from KFFL
Really? Sounds like they are ready to move ahead with Quinn, or are they just playing hardball with Anderson and are confident nobody is going to give up a 1st and a 3rd?

Browns are actually upping their offer. I'm sure it will cross the wires within the next hour

Re: Latest FA news from KFFL
Interesting. I did think that 3 years $20M was a bit of a lowball offer.
