McAlister and Woodsen are franchised by their teams. Bailey looks like he is "spoken for". So the top "free" CBs on the market at the moment are Springs, Winfield and Vincent.

Since the supply just got smaller and the demand is about the same, the price for those three just went up. Even Congress can't repeal the law of supply and demand. Oh, and trust me; the agents for these players are VERY aware of the law of supply and demand...

Springs turned down a Seattle offer in training camp last year. I don't remember the entire deal but the signing bonus was $13 - 14M. He turned that down. Sound familiar...???

Winfield is a no-brainer... as mentioned above, he already knows the system. He's going to be a serviceable replacement for Bailey (although not near his equal) plus he's gonna cost way less.

Springs is a very good CB when healthy. Though he has a history of injuries, I think he'd be a good fit. Winfield is supposedly asking any team that wants him to break the bank. Spring is 28 but that's not too old for a corner. I think he'd be cheaper than Winfield and better, if he stays healthy. I think the team doctors should take a long hard look but if he looks okay, sign him.

I don't know, I'm just not crazy about Winfield. I know he plays bigger than his size but I feel like that's going to catch up to him. I guess though if you you strengthen your d-line the need to a top of the line cover corner on both sides of the field isn't as big a deal. As for Winfield knowing the system, so what? Let's just run off some of the names that knew the Spurrier system...Wuerffel, Matthews, Reidel Anthony, Jacquez Green

Also, maybe someone can answer this question for me. Gregg Williams is the Assistant Head Coach-Defense while Greg Blache is the defensive coordinator. So I'm just wondering what do these different responsibilities mean exactly and whose system will be impleneted, Blache's or Williams'?

I think it's all Williams stuff. The assistant head-coach/d-coordinator thing is to mess with the NFL rules about who can talk to and sign your coaches. I remember reading that when the coaches were announced.

Both those corners would be nice.

i think the difference with winfield and those god foresaken gators is that antoine has proven it on the field against professionals (where those other guys only succeeded in spurrier's system at Florida). The gators were very marginal once they got to the L, unlike winfield.

well, i hope we get someone- be it winfield or springs
