Re: Late Round Gems
This guy isn't even projected to get drafted, yet is the perfect Shanahan type back.

Seriously, where you see the red flag? Since when is having a quick release and a near text book throwing motion a bad thing? I see a red flag with your post, lol You realize that the comparison was of their releases? |

Re: Late Round Gems
Having a QB compared in the passing department to Michael Vick for me is the red flag. The quick release and throwing motion are fine. I would think of an analogy but I can't think of one right now.

Re: Late Round Gems
Jarrett Brown remains one of my late round gems:
West Virginia's Jarrett Brown got the best reviews by far among a weak morning quarterback group. Snead enjoys strong throwing session | ProFootballTalk.com Jarrett Brown/QB/West Virginia: Brown was one of the few signal-callers who displayed NFL caliber talent today. His passes had terrific velocity and Brown's accuracy was better on Sunday than at any point the past eight months. He was effective throwing the deep out, the money pass at the combine. Re: Late Round Gems
INDIANAPOLIS
We're taking a look inside the performances of the quarterbacks who participated in the NFL Combine. NOTES: Heights and weights are the official measurements taken at the NFL Combine. Players are ranked based on their throwing performance only. Official height example: "6055" = 6 feet, 5 5/8 inches. Official height example: "5017" = 5 feet, 11 7/8 inches. 1) Jarrett Brown/West Virginia/6027/224: Just like he performed during Senior Bowl week practices, Brown wowed scouts with his big arm and accuracy. He throws the ball so effortlessly that you wonder why he hadn't been a starter at West Virginia for a longer period of time. He has outstanding arm strength and surprisingly good touch. What you also see is a young quarterback that throws with tremendous confidence. You can tell he knows he's good, but he backs it up with almost flawless accuracy and execution. No quarterback has helped himself more from late January through late February. I can't see how Brown makes it out of the third round based on his upside alone. Re: Late Round Gems
Are you Jarrett Brown? The red flag from my perspective is that his release is similar to Vick's AND that the reviews vary on his accuracy. One says "flawless accuracy," while another says "makes receivers work for catches," and another says "His accuracy was not deadly." That sounds a lot like Mike Vick. That's somewhat to be expected from a late-round QB though, so I wouldn't be completely opposed to spending a 4th or later pick on him assuming we don't take a different qb earlier.

Re: Late Round Gems
Doesn't matter how quick it is when a little under half the time he misses the target. So no I don't believe Vick has a good release in a game situation. Now if you want to impress a scout with how much velocity you can put on a football then fine he has an amazing release, but it's like getting a rocket launcher without a targeting system.
THERE'S YOUR ANALOGY!! Only took half a month. Anyway I will never respect a true mobile QB until they can put up respectable passing numbers. Most of the mobile QB's that have become successful almost always evolved into pocket passers; Steve Young, McNabb, McNair, heck even Cunningham eventually reached his peak when he became a pocket passer. In the end the fact remains, a football travels much faster down the field then any QB can run.

The comparison to Vick was about his release not his accuracy. The fact that you can't admit that Vick has a good release imo tells a lot about your willingness or lack thereof to admit when wrong. HTTR! |

Anyway to review a release determines velocity and accuracy. If one of those components is lacking then the quality of the release is reduced. I believe you're confusing a quick release with a good release.

By your argument if someone isn't accurate or lacks velocity then they must have a poor release? That simple isn't logical. The quality of a QBs release is indepent from accuracy or velocity. You can have a horrible release and good accuracy or velocity or a great release and horrible accuracy or velocity the factors are independent. *And btw i was refering to this point of contention we're having not about your general posting history of which i have no clue nor care. Look it, if you don't think Vick has a good release cool beans bro. Hey, whatever floats your boat. HTTR! Agree to disagree ![]() |
