Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!
Yeah, they spent a few training camps in Frostburg, in the mid to late 90s.
I'm going to go ahead and come to Snyder's defense again re: Dan Turk (may he rest in peace). Turk's wife was most upset about two things with the Redskins when her husband died 10+ years ago. 1) that while he was sick in the hospital almost no Redskins (save for one or two) came to see him and 2) when interviewed about the botch snap, instead of letting the public know that her husband was dying of cancer he said "we have a new long snapper, that won't be a problem anymore" I understand her argument that she felt the organization from the top down had a culture that didn't care about her husband so she put the blame on Snyder. But that seems like a bit of an extreme case to make. If Snyder himself didn't visit, shame on him but don't make him responsible for how the players chose don't handle to it. He can't make them go, particularly not when it's the offseason. And as for not telling the public her husband was dying of cancer; it's not Snyder's place to do that. He was right not to say anything, because he has no business talking about his employees' personal matters unless it's already public knowledge or he's been consented to do so. But for her to assume he would just be the one to tell everyone her husband had cancer is wrong on her part, that's not his place and he was smart not to say anything. And I know she was (is) upset with the lack of benefits she felt she and her family got. But that's more on the NFL as a whole that simply Snyder. So look, I totally sympathize with her and it's terrible she lost her husband and she has every right to be angry and frustrated, but taking a step back and looking at it without emotion I think her anger at times has been a bit misplaced.
