While it would be nice to have more LB's, LB is not a serious need for us right now.

I was thinking maybe a 3-4 ILB, only because Rocky McIntosh is on my sh*t list. But I'm holding out hope that Robert Henson will come out of nowhere and light it up for us.

Notice the run on RB's. If Helu was our guy, we would have missed him without the trade up.

Shanahan has learned from the Pats: trade back, stockpile picks, and every now and then move up a bit to get the guy you want.

I'm not arguing whether or not Helu should have been our guy. But if he was, we did the right thing.

Like Schefter said, when Shanahan trades up to get a RB it means he really likes him. I think we have to assume he was our guy.

Well to be fair we started the run.

Wait until Bowers ends up like Courtney Brown (hope I'm wrong about that) and Austin is getting in trwoble.

Interviewed very poorly at the Combine, very selfishly throwing his college under the bus and refusing to take responsibility for any of the wrongdoings that led to his dismissal from the team. Has earned a reputation in the NFL scouting community as a "finger-pointing, excuse-making con artist" who does not know what it means to lead. Set a poor example and coasted way too much on his natural talent throughout college.
Then sit back and watch as Helu becomes the first Redskins in 2,000 years to break a run of more then 20 yards while Hankerson becomes a key figure in the offense..

No. 105: Redskins select: Roy Helu, RB, Nebraska Grade
Very good selection here because the Redskins had a need at running back. Helu is a tough runner but lacks break away speed.

Grade: B

to be fair they weren't picks we had at the start of the draft, AND it wasn't next years draft like Tampa Bay just gave Philly.

OMFG, this dude is getting run down from behind in every play. If I was him I'd be pissed at the guy who put this highlight reel together...

What are you talking about? I only saw one play in that whole video where he was caught from behind. 90% of the tackles were made from defenders coming in laterally. I like him. He looks like he has good vision and can burst through the line quickly and make people miss at the second level.

I'll admit that my post my be a bit of an over reaction. I still don't like the kid better than Kendall Hunter, and I don't like the trade down for him at all. But, I am familiar with his game,as I bet many Nebraska games over the years. His best asset is his toughness, he has a lot of heart and you see it in his play.

Hunter went to 49ers.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7

McShay disagrees
Excellent top-end speed and can consistently reach the edge and turn the corner as an outside runner. Possesses enough elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. However, lacks quick-twitched lateral agility to consistently make defenders miss in the hole. Does a nice job of planting foot in ground and getting vertical when decisive as a runner. Also shows adequate short-area burst to get to and through the hole. Can turn shoulder pads to get skinny and fit through creases. Possesses enough top-end speed to out run pursuit on occasion and manufacture big gain.

If there is one thing I trust Shanahan to do, it's draft RBs. If he says Helu is the guy and worth the trade up, I am looking forward to seeing him in preseason.
