Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Just terrific. I love everything about this draft. This is the competition you want between four young WRs if you include Austin.
Same goes for RBs, although I've seen Royster play a significant amount of games and I'd be shocked if he ends up on the final roster, but oh well. Kerrigan will be a stud, there's just no way you can argue that unless your name is Jamie Dukes and you're half retarded. Jenkins is a bonus, we weren't expecting to be able to pick up so many key players later in the draft and we still managed to get a guy who was rising later in the draft year. I see Jenkins being a very solid 3-4 DE. Not as good as Carriker, but certainly acceptable.

ASS-KICKIN' draft for the Skins. I have forgotten what it is like to be interested in the draft....as we usually have so few picks. We filled some needs with quality guys that should be immediate starters, and got some guys that can help out in relief or at least create excellent competition in camp. Very excited about the upcoming season. We got much younger, and hopefully found a diamond or two in the rough in later rounds as well! HTTR Oh and BIG move choosing so many team leader and character guys. Blue collar workman players. The Pats/Steelers/Colts...etc have done ok with that philosophy.

I wish I knew! I have to trust in the FO and Shanny at his point. I have thought in my mind all along that I have no problem with Team Building this year shoreing up the many area's that are depleted (and get by with whover the best we can get at QB....for now) and working in earnest in 2012 for the francise man.
Perhaps that is what they are doing?

Neild is a unique player, possessed with the exact type of work ethic and attitude needed to play a unique position. Maintaining that attitude may have him soon challenging for the most important position in the 3-4 defense. In this age of me first and glory, this guy finds his glory through making others better. We can never have enough of those type players.

Whose the guy?
The guy is Rex Grossman, Followed by John Beck, and possibly Bruce Gradkowski whenever FA starts. The guy though is who we get next year, hopefully Andrew Luck.

Despite how much I love what we did in this years draft, I think next year we give up whatever we have to to get Andrew Luck. A lot of mediocre teams took a QB this year, and with any luck one of them will be picking first and Luck will be ours for the taking. When you have a guy that has the talent, size, and smarts to be the next great QB you give up what you have to, to go get him. |

Anyway, as others have pointed out, I think it represents...and reinforces Shanny's philosophical change in the teams attitude of TEAM first and I like it. I also think they are tired of dealing with assholes and prima donnas.....who can blame them. So am I!

"Strengths: Neild is tall enough with a thick lower half. Plays with good leverage and clogs up running lanes. Delivers a powerful initial punch and possesses very heavy active hands to shed blocks. Flashes a powerful bull rush. High effort kid that fights to the whistle and finishes plays. Weaknesses: Not the quickest kid off the ball and poor foot speed prevents him from making plays in the backfield. Will not be able to play nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme. Lacks a repertoire of pass rushing counter moves and does not have a closing burst to get after the quarterback. Will not make tackles in space. " He is a space eater who clogs the middle ... So he isn't a quick penetrator, we don't need him to penetrate, chase down plays or "make plays in space". In this scheme, clearly Rak and Kerrigan are there for the sacks not the NT. Tell me "genius", why can't he play NT in the NFL? What else in the analysis supports that conclusion? Or is your entire analysis/conclusion based on that one sentence?

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I really believe that the analysis report should have said he won't be a penetrating NT in a 3-4. I think that's ok, because we want a guy who stuffs the middle and allows our LB's (ie Orakpo) to utilize their speed and power.
Maybe that line just wasn't clear enough, but to take it as a repudiation of everything else written, or as a rationale to downgrade the pick seems to me to reflect the type of snap to judgement thinking that the Skins under Snyder/Cerrato showed. Don't look at a guy cuz analysts don't see elite disciplines. This is a pick that when you look deeper, you find a team leader, a dedicated worker, and a guy who should fit our team, not the all-madden team. |
