I actually hope that Holdman comes back cheaply & plays well. From the sounds of it, he was never comfortable in the system, but maybe he'll be better in it the 2nd year. Not a long term answer, but he can provide depth if a draft pick can't win the job
Beemnseven 04-01-2006, 10:46 AM the good tackles are gone by then. you can get the #1 or #2 OG in the draft, or you can get the #6 OT. Our weakest link is dockery, and he only has a 1 year deal. jansen and samuels are locked up long term, as are thomas and rabach.
Jansen was a second rounder, though admittedly he was selected much higher than the spot we have this year.
Unless there's clearly a better tackle available, I agree we should go for a guard. But I wouldn't pass up a tackle knowing that you could always plug him in at the guard position for additional experience.

That Guy 04-01-2006, 10:53 AM if holdman delivers any more sub-trashcan level games he'll need to be shot. Adams isn't a star, but he'd be a big upgrade over what we saw of holdman last year.

T walters is a T, some of the other backups have played tackle as well... but anyone is going to be a drop off from chris and jon unless they make 5$mill a year ;)
some of the guards can play tackle, some can't, but in the 2nd round you're generally getting complete guards that can play vs semi-project tackles (like guys that moved from TE etc). It just seems like people stretch for OTs and QBs and draft them above their talent levels too often :/ I'm all for best available OL though... but gibbs did say he was only looking for G/C backup guys, as if he was comfortable with the backup tackles we have.

redskins.com lists him as a OT, so i'd say no he's not a guard. adams might be around the same price. Adams isn't going to get 3mill a year or anything like that.
ultimateskinsfan 04-01-2006, 04:30 PM With the release of Kim Herring, do you think he would fit in with the skins? Considering GW likes safeties. I think he could be a good fit if his shoulder is all healed up.
