GhettoDogAllStars 08-25-2006, 02:35 PM If you think you understand at 17 just wait till your 21+. hehe. that's my post count. happy b-day to me...I just turned 18! Monkeydad 08-25-2006, 02:36 PM Thug (hip hop slang) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thug_%28hip_hop_slang%29) I'm guessing it's because of all the rap lyrics. Thugs (alternatively written "thugz"), in the hip-hop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music)/gangsta rap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangsta_rap) sense, are persons who are ruthless (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruthless) and who will do whatever it takes to get what they want. That makes Hillary Clinton a thug! Monkeydad 08-25-2006, 02:38 PM hehe. that's my post count. happy b-day to me...I just turned 18! If your age and your post count are identical, you might be a newbie. http://content.clearchannel.com/Photos/male_celebrities/jeff_foxworthy/jeff_foxworthy_MKTG3.jpg 12thMan 08-25-2006, 02:39 PM Definition of thug: A brutal ruffian or ganster. I see no reference to a black man in that definition. It is the ACTIONS of the player that make him a thug, not his skin color. Sheesh. I think we all agree on the textbook definition and even the orgin of the word itself. In the heat of the moment when I'm passing judgements and making off color remarks, sorry sometimes I do, I don't refer to Wikipedia or Google. The bigger question is have we, as a whole, been conditioned to think of and label a particular culture in a certain way? I think it's a valid argument. GhettoDogAllStars 08-25-2006, 02:40 PM i'm really 24. saden1 08-25-2006, 02:44 PM i'm really 24. Lies, your dirty old man in his 50's. GhettoDogAllStars 08-25-2006, 02:45 PM The bigger question is have we, as a whole, been conditioned to think of and label a particular culture in a certain way? I think it's a valid argument. Absolutely. IMO, that is what has happened with racism--it's gone underground (in America). What's worse, people don't even think that it's racism--they think you have to be lynching and segregating to be racist. :( GhettoDogAllStars 08-25-2006, 02:46 PM Lies, your dirty old man in his 50's. dammit. you blew my cover. oh well, time to find a new forum to lurk on. hesscl34 08-25-2006, 02:50 PM I think we all agree on the textbook definition and even the orgin of the word itself. In the heat of the moment when I'm passing judgements and making off color remarks, sorry sometimes I do, I don't refer to Wikipedia or Google. The bigger question is have we, as a whole, been conditioned to think of and label a particular culture in a certain way? I think it's a valid argument. You mean a label like the REDSKINS? Or like YANKEES? Valid? Dude, it's life. We've come a long way I think from the days long ago. I'm sure we will continue to better ourselves as people and try even harder to be "politically correct" going forward. I doubt there was any harm meant towards blacks in that comment, it was just a comment and a word was used. The guy is a thug – white/black/yellow. It is what it is. |
