Oh, I also got nailed in the hand with a pitch in little league and broke my left ring finger. I have to wear my wedding ring on my right hand because the knuckle of that finger is huge and the finger doesn't straighten the whole way.

The pinky beside it is a little mangled too but looks good compared to the ring finger.

I also tore the ligaments in my right thumb and had to have the joint fused with 2 screws since it was beyond repairable.

I have 16 screws, a plate (entire forearm from elbow to wrist) and had 7 pins in me between my thumb, both feet and my right forearm, but they're not sports-related. :)

It's funny though I think I got more banged up playing flag football in college. I broke my right ring finger when it got twisted up in someone's jersey and it never healed right so I have a bit of a club finger. I also got knocked the hell out once when I collided head to head with a guy. The only time I've ever been knocked out cold.

Sounds just like my baseball finger! :food-smil

my knees are all sorts of messed up from sports. I still can't stand or sit in one position for too long without them hurting like all hell. I probably need to get them cleaned up or something, but that can wait.

Is that from sports or the shed? ;)

Couldn't resist.

I tore my ACL and had a complex meniscus tear in my right knee playing football with a group of friends. I waited six years before finally getting surgery. The doctor trimmed the meniscus (60%) but said the ACL partially healed itself and he thought it would be good enough if I didn't do anything extremely reckless. He was wrong. Running around the bases in softball will occasionally result in a "pop" (knee) leading to a "splat" (me).

I also broke my collarbone playing flag football in Colorado. About 10 degrees with 3-4 inches of snow on the ground. I went out for a pass, the ball was overthrown and I stretched out for it. After realizing I couldn't catch it, I decided to dive and roll, come up and head back to the huddle. No biggie, I did many times before. When I dove I basically drove my shoulder straight into the ground, heard a snap and a white flash of light went off in my head. The funny thing was I was wearing like 4 layers of clothing so the shoulder felt stiff but I guess due to the immobilty it didn't hurt so bad or feel broken. So, the next play I ran an inside route. The ball was high. I lifted my arms up and pain just shot right through my shoulder.

I didn't play football, but I was the water and stat girl and I saw some NASTY injuries..... broken collar bone through the skin was one of the worst.

i broke my left arm skateboaring when I was 7 and touched my hand to my shoulder with my elbow bent the wrong way... that sucked.

I pinched nerves from time to time and broke a bone in my foot... the bone that goes down the outside of the foot from the pinky toe... just twisting it wrong. ITs called a dancer's break, but I wasn't freakin dancin.

Playing soccer I saw 2 of the most gruesome injuries ever, one I caused. Barb high school in lake charles LA was like a 5a team that came down to pick on us. they were up 16-0 at halftime, and coach put me in at goalie for the second half and told me, "we already lost, at least make em pay for makin us look that bad".

Bad advice from a bad coach. I got into the heat of the game and threw a guy through the back of the net while he was shooting. His leg hit the goalpost behind the net and snapped. Benches cleared. I felt horrible, though... still do.

Then a freind of mine, ricky snapped his leg without contact in a game and I held the IV bag on the field for him... it was sticking out, but it didnt' actually break through the skin...

oh, and once I headed a throw in in soccer and knocked a guys tooth out of his face. I got the ball and his mouth and they stopped the game to find his tooth. I played the game with blood everywhere from the gash in my head... it looked awesome...

No big football injuries, though...

Two springs ago I was playing lacrosse and was right in front of the goal. I jumped and was hit from the left side, I took a shot (missed) and when I landed my cleats planted in the turf with my momentum still going towards the right from the hit.

It was field turf so my foot was not going anywhere, but my body kept moving. I heard three consecutive pops, and partially tore all the ligaments in my ankle. It got all black and blue.. pretty nasty.

But recently playing flag football I got a minor scrap on my elbow...I shrugged it off as nothing. Turns out it developed into nasty cellulitis and I'm still on anti-biotics for it. I'll never take a small cut lightly again... My elbow is still in alot of pain, but the anti-biotics are working like a charm.
