I agree with the "not a bust YET" opinion. Last year, everybody except Betts and the O-line pretty much sucked in comparison to our expectations. I'm a nice guy and tend to think that rookies and first year players probably should get a first year pass. Hopefully we can expect much better things from a dozen or more Redskins starters in 2007.
I think and hope you are right. I saw Campbell get better as the season ended. With that the passing game will get better. Lets face it we have four very good receivers and if Campbell gets the ball we will be all right. My question is the OL at guard and depth!

10 million dollars up front, 30 million dollar contract extension, and no TD's, as the #2 receiver on the team. Now, however you want to look at it , that classifies his first year with the team a BUST. I dont care who the QB is. There are 4th and 5th string receivers catching TD's that may get a ball thrown their way 1 our of 2 or 3 games. I think ole B. Lloyd needs to come down a notch and realize he is not the star he thinks he is. No doubt the guy has talent. Speed, and hands that seem to be pretty damn good. He should be owning #2 or #3 corners in this league. Until he gets this attitude of "why me?" out of his head, he could be a productive WR for us. Santana Moss should help the guy out. Hopefully Joe's little talk and discipline at the end of the year turned the light on for the guy. There is a chance this offense could really put some points and numbers up if they all work together and not so caught up in getting the ball. They have to realize Santana is going to get most of the balls, but this offense will spread it out if the guys get open.

Lloyd will be turning 26 this year maybe he will adopt a more veteran like attitude.
Most of his problem is attitude
He was still full of piss an vinegar last year
hopefully Gibbs has him on the right track this year

Well, it would appear that B. Lloyd is well on his way to the hall of fame with a signature catch like that! If that's what you need for membershp, then he's a shoe in for sure!

Seriously though, being a Redskins fan is tough, because we always get our hopes up in the offseason, and then get them smashed to the ground once the regular season roles around. So, I try not to get my hopes up as much as I used to, but look at it from a more realistic standpoint.

Realisticly, IMO, not that I know for sure what is realistic and what is not, is that no one really knows for sure right now whether or not Lloyd is a bust or not. There's no sense in hyping him and saying, oh wow this man can make some spectacular catches, he'll be great for us next year, cause we all know he also doesn't show up sometimes.

In addition, I don't think there's much sense in saying that he's a huge mistake at this point because of some attitude problems and dropped passes, because we have seen glimpses of him making some great plays.

And then there's the other part of the equation, that it was the first year in the new offense, with two different quarterbacks, who maybe could not get him the ball. Or, maybe he just wasn't open! I'm not really convinced that anyone on the Warpath really knows for sure.

It seems like there's two sides to this guy, kinda like a Doctor Jeckel and Mr. Hide type deal. Let's just hope somehow in the offseason we can keep Mr. Hyde from coming around too much. Or maybe, instead of Mr. Hyde, he can turn into the Hulk on game days and just smash our opponents, that would be good too.

I guess my point is, I don't see why there's such a hostile argument over whether or not he's a bust after one season. I mean, we all want the guy to be good, and I don't think there's overwhelming evidence in either direction of the argument after just one season. Let's just hope he pans out!

the problem is he has a long track record of having a bad-itude (R), and there's no real reason to expect him to change any more than expecting TO or randy moss to change their attitude. It'd be nice if it happened though, he'd get a lot further that way.

wow, before pitifully attempting to call me out, why don't YOU try shedding some insight on why you made this ridiculous thread about why he ISN'T a bust since that's the widely held view of his career. If you want to make that assertion, what proof do you have that he isn't? like YOU went to every game and seen him get this separation.

I can point to the fact that he had the WORST SEASON of ANY starting wide receiver in the history of the super bowl era as proof that he goes mia. your response?

you're making excuses for him without any proof. you implied that he's not a bust and then link to a single catch on youtube follow by some retarded logic that only makes sense to you and contains no facts.

please, before asking someone to reply with actual insight, make sure you thread isn't completely worthless, and that you apply the same standards to your own posts.

hypocrite.

Well said. Questioning whether Lloyd was a bust last year isn't even debatable. Until he finds the end zone, we'd be better off treating him as the non-entity that he has been in this offense.

I don't think he's a bust at all. It was a hard year FOR EVERYONE. I think he has a ton of talent. I'm glad he's a Redskin.

"We see eye to eye, we're on the same page and I'm playing on Sunday. It's one of those things that happen that you learn from and move on," Lloyd said. "I've had this personality since I was about 5 years old. And if I ever thought it was a problem, I would have changed it. I'm okay with this kind of attention. So if I thought it was a problem, I would have changed it 20 years ago." -Washington Post

Is anyone else horrified by these comments? Is this guy simply not very smart/articulate to where he doesn't know what he's actually saying?

I mean really, The guy has been paid all this money, sucked it up, and is pissing everyone off around him. Alot of people under-estimate the necessity for character on a team and I really believe Lloyd lacks the kind of character you want on a championship team.

He's immature, selfish, not a very good football player, and highly over-paid. I tend to side with the argument that you can't call him a bust unless his time is up here with us, but I can say, he's aqcuired alot of bust-like characteristics.

"Other Redskins players and personnel members said Lloyd has not always endeared himself to his teammates or support staff because of his moodiness and temper."

The guy is looney, and spazzes out over insignificant shit... he's been a problem, and I don't think anyone has any reason to think he won't be one next year. I say get rid of him while we have the chance...

If we keep Lloyd, I really really really hope I'm wrong on this one.

It's hard to look at last year and say he was anything but a bust.

Hopefully he can get back on track this year, we really need him to step up.

Brandon Lloyd is yet another example of how "character," derided by many as an irrelevant consideration in evaluating a player, actually does matter. Lloyd was a bust last year, but let's hope that Gibbs can turn this guy around and make him a productive member of the team.
