GhettoDogAllStars 04-10-2007, 11:52 AM Wow, I didn't hear anyone say "jigaboos." That would make the incident worse, but I haven't heard anything else about the use of that term.
I don't think it was a horrible incident (and I'm pretty sensitive to racial issues), but I am certainly not going to argue with you GDAS.
0:25 seconds in:
YouTube - Don Imus Apologizes for Racist Comments (with the comments) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaGnu0l8shs)
I don't want to defend the guy(s), but it seems like the term was used as a reference to some movie, perhaps (Spike Lee maybe). Unfortunately, I don't get the reference.

I didn't hear jigaboos either. Man, that would definitely make shit hit the fan.
saden1 04-10-2007, 11:55 AM She's a total idiot and trash. I've always thought that and the vid just confirms it.
What's really ironic is that bitch never finished high school.

She just proves that money does not equal class. I'd be fine with her not finishing high school as I have friends who aren't the best educated, but who are smart and good people. I just can't tolerate idiots and classless trash.
The sad thing is that so many young girls are imitating Paris and that girls like Paris "set women back" by making it cool be appear dumb and irresponsible.
Trash is, as Trash does.........Forrest
dmek25 04-10-2007, 12:50 PM not to change the subject, but as much as i hate Paris Hilton, i love me some Nicky Hilton

I think Nicky is actually cute. Definately has nice eyes.
theBIGC_1982 04-10-2007, 02:30 PM I didn't hear jigaboos either. Man, that would definitely make shit hit the fan.
It wasn't Imus that said jigaboos; it was one of the other guys with him. They were trying to reference School Daze - jigaboos (Rutgers) v. wannabes(Tennessee). Imus just agreed, well and called them "nappy-headed hos."
firstdown 04-10-2007, 04:28 PM You don't have to hate black people to be racist. You only have to have an opinion about them which is based only on their skin color.
It should be noted that Imus was not alone in this. There was another man in the booth (I think his producer), and I can't be certain who said what. However, they were certainly in agreement.
Imus' statements reflect his attitude and beliefs towards the people whom he described. He (or his producer) called the Rutgers girls "Jigaboos", which is only a very small step away from n*****. I cannot understand how somebody would refer to black people in this manner, without having some negative opinion.
Based on that statement, Imus is racist. He clearly has a negative opinion about those people -- whom he does not know -- simply because of the color of their skin.
Not sure if you know what your talking about. Imus was on a one and one interview with Ail Sharpton when this happened. Can you give us any link to back up whatyoue have stated as fact. There has been nothing in what i have read and that would make this even a bigger deal.
wolfeskins 04-10-2007, 05:17 PM Did anyone see the press conference from Rutgers.....
Does anyone else think this is just A LITTLE over the top. I mean I dont for one second condone anything the guy said, and if he's fired, I dont really give a crap because he's a moron for saying it....
But seriously, this is just getting a little bit out of hand. Didnt anyone ever remember "sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me."
I mean is it really nessacary to have this team paraded out there for some press conference with the President of Rutgers telling the girls how much his heart goes out to them during such a dark period of their lives..... I don't know, I just think this is all a little much.
i totaly agree with you. i saw some of that press conference earlier today. absolutely rediculous. people are way to sensative. i'm not trying to defend the guy but come on, who really gives a crap.
i also agree with the person that brought up the "double standard" issue. there is definately a double standard in todays society. if it had been a black person who said those comments, this would be a non issue, even if the black person would have said something about an all white team it would still be a non issue.
