Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham were all first class musicians as well. 2) The Allman Brothers Band - Hearing the Allman Brothers play live is surreal. The whole band is composed of excellent musicians. Rolling Stone did a top 50 guitarists of all time list. Dwayne Allman and Dickey Betts were both in the top 5. 3) The Beatles - I'm not a huge Beatles fan. But the Beatles' influence has touched so many different bands and influenced music so much, it's hard not to give them respect. BDBohnzie 05-24-2007, 08:32 AM I'll go ahead and name some people not mentioned yet, as there are several I would have picked already listed. Speaking of Led Zep, I gotta give props to Jimmy Page. One of the best guitarists of all time. The man is a guitar legend. The only guy I think that could have come close to holding his jock is Stevie Ray Vaughn. Another singer/songwriter that has shown a great range of talent is Eric Clapton. And you can't think Blues without thinking of BB King. 12thMan 05-24-2007, 09:07 AM Michael Jackson Jimi Hendrix Tupac ********************** Honorable Mentions Elvis Beatles Stevie Wonder 12thMan 05-24-2007, 09:21 AM Beethoven - Anyone who can compose entire orchestral pieces without hearing is the man! Hendrix - 'nuff said. Dr. Dre - This probably won't be popular among the non-traditional instrument crowd, but he's revolutionized the way Pro-Tools can make your ear pop. Just to piggy back on the rap/hip-hop theme; I would have to throw Erik B. & Rakkim in there. The whole west coast movement of the 90s and 2000s, in my opinion, were built on the successes of the 80s by artists such as Erik B. and Rakim. They are among the patriarchs of rap in my humble opinion. jbcjr14 05-24-2007, 09:22 AM 1. Eddie Van Halen 2. Stevie Ray Vaughn 3.
