LYNYRD SKYNYRD 2. ALLMAN BROTHERS 3. MARSHALL TUCKER BAND Heard that. skinsfan_nn 06-24-2007, 09:06 PM Heard that. Sounds like 70Chip, is hittin the note. How bout those boys from the SOUTH, were it all began. Peace my friend! 70Chip 06-24-2007, 10:30 PM Here's some good southern music: (This would make good ST highlight reel song) YouTube - Sam & Dave - Hold On I'm Comin' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN4DHY_9gOs) MonkFan4Life 06-25-2007, 11:40 AM As far as DC, forget it we know what we are talking about. As far as Go-Go does the top spot HAS to go to Chuck Brown. He's the effin Godfather of this thing. Now as for my fav's 1. Junyard - Nobody and I mean NOBODY cranks like them. Buggs, Winko, Heavy One (RIP), Dre Dog, Black Pooh, Gene Pratt back in the day, KC, T-Bob, Dimi Doc, Baker, and with Bo Chilly on the sound ! I mean I should stop now. Used to go to the Taj Mahal (moment of silence .................. Thanks) on Friday and the Ibex ( moment of silence ..................... Thank you everyone) on Sunday. Buggs is by far IMO the best #1. I give Funk his due but Buggs is just ridiculous. 2. Backyard - When they hit the scene go-go had gotten away from pockets and sockets being held for long periods of time. It was more so all breakdowns but when Back came out and when G got on the mic it was perfect. With Buggy, Sauce, and Whitboy they had a drummer a congo player and a lead guitar player that could get you there! They were the Onyx of Go-Go and had this grimy sound that could switch to sockets with a drive that wouldn't stop. Saw them a couple of times at the Ibex ( moment of silence ............ Thank You all) 3. NEG - I mean DAMN ! I never saw them live but they were vicious. Groover has a constant party going on for a whole show. Chris (Rah Rah) is VERY underrated IMO as a lead talker. I was at the Legend on night and he got on the mic while they played a Groovers song and had the club rockin. He has a yell which is only beat out by Big G. I mean shit HAVE YOU SEEN SUNSHINE AND JUICY ? DAMN !!!!! Smoke on the congos, Jammin Jef and then Stomp Dog on the drums, Dig F'n Dug on the roto toms. Damn I love go-go. Never really listened to Essence that much but most of the people I know say they are the greatest. I give them theyre respect because they have been in the game for a min. NOW FOR MY GO GO HEADS THE TOP DEBATE IS on March 31, 1996 Junkyard did a show,... wait I'm sorry I know we don't use the actual date. 3-31-96 at the Ibex JY played and there was a solo battle between Wink and Smoke,.... who won ? I KNOW you all have heard this and if you don't own it then you are slippin ! Other than Go Go my top musicians are: Mozart Bethoven Prince Stevie Wonder James Brown Jimi Hendrix Artists/Groups Earth Wind and Fire Marvin Gaye Led Zepplin Red Hot Chilli Peppers I'll be typing forever let me stop !!!!! Monkeydad 06-26-2007, 04:05 PM No order Eminem Mozart Hendrix No order is right. How you could put a confused white boy/punk who doesn't sing or play an instrument (the definition of a musician) in a list with the greatest composer and guitarist of all time is still flying over my head. :cheeky-sm Monkeydad 06-26-2007, 04:08 PM Oh...my list: Mozart Elvis Beethoven Johnny Cash Metallica BigSKINBauer 06-26-2007, 04:15 PM way i looked at it, couldn't put 2 classical or two rap or two of anything on the list because they have to be the best at their respective genres atleast. I am going to also change from mozart to beethoven on the list though i think they are both top 3 overall, don't want to put them both there. I guess i was in a mozart mood that day but i'm going with beethoven now jdlea 06-26-2007, 04:30 PM Hendrix The Doors Genesis SmootSmack 06-26-2007, 06:40 PM As far as DC, forget it we know what we are talking about.
