can never have to many good dlineman
Gerard Warren on the trading block!!CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 08-16-2007, 11:15 PM can never have to many good dlineman Cowell 08-17-2007, 12:29 AM Well I guess you must have forgotten when Salave'a started at DT for us in 2004, and 2005 when we had top 10 defenses. I would say that's pretty damn consistent. Big Joe is a high motor type of guy he never quits, or takes plays off like your boy Gerard Warren does. This year Joe is fully healthy, and I think he is going to play a big part of our defense this year rotating in at DT. Why do you think the Broncos are shopping him? Because the guy doesn't give 100% effort. Okay, I don't think the defense was top 10 because Joe Salave'a was on it. In fact I think he was a somewhat smaller part of that. I have a feeling that even if Warren doesn't give his 100% on every down he could still do better than Salave'a. Well the point is the defense was obviously better with Big Joe starting in 2004, and 2005. If we do get Warren where does that leave Golston, and Montgomery? They have been working extremely hard this offseason. I would hate to bring in a guy that takes plays off, and have him cut into much needed playing time for Montgomery, and Golston's development. If everything works out as planned Montgomery, and Golston are going to be the Redskins future at DT, we do not have a need for another DT Salave'a will do just fine. Now if Warren was a DE you might have a good argument. RMSkins 08-17-2007, 12:54 AM I am not usually against bringing in players to compete, but when it's going to interfere with the development of a very promising DT duo I have a problem with it. sandman89 08-17-2007, 02:43 AM I am not usually against bringing in players to compete, but when it's going to interfere with the development of a very promising DT duo I have a problem with it. Yes,True but what if Goldston doesn't do good(I doubt it hes becoming a stud)?. We need Warren to teach them along with Griffin to make them better and if possible put Warren at DE> BigSKINBauer 08-17-2007, 05:20 AM I am not usually against bringing in players to compete, but when it's going to interfere with the development of a very promising DT duo I have a problem with it. There is a strong chance one is going to be a miss anyways. I would like for both of them to be great but really good DTs are hard to come by. I think golston is money but i'm not all that high on montgomery. I like him but i think he gets more credit than deserved because he is associated with golston in the minds of many fans. Regardless, i would like a good DT combo now also. 724Skinsfan 08-17-2007, 08:03 AM I wouldn't mind seeing someone else come in, naturally. But I want it to be a guy who listens to his coaches and accepts the role he is given. Gerard Warren isn't doing that in Denver which is why they are shopping him. He is a classic "me" player. freddyg12 08-17-2007, 08:04 AM There is a strong chance one is going to be a miss anyways. There's always a chance that bringing a new guy in can disrupt things, chemistry & such, but also a chance that he could be worked into the rotation & Montgomery would be pushed to earn some pt. Good point about Montgomery; he was a project draft pick who appears to be on the right track but he didn't crack the lineup as much as Golston last year. holcknowsbest 08-17-2007, 08:51 PM he dominated in that game last saturday, lets see how montgomery does this week. warren wont get past the 40 up downs he owes when he signs. the guy is known for being a slap dick without any heart. dont want that guy at all. montgomery looks huge and remember he was an olineman in college, to come this far is amazing. this guy was very productive the other night and i love his size.
