skinsfan69 12-07-2007, 10:06 AM Collins helped do what we have been missing. He helped us score TD's. Getting that last TD instead of a FG could have been the difference in a great win and another 4th quarter loss. He deserves credit for his performance. Good job Todd!
I'd also like to give props to the coaches on that last drive. They came out throwing instead of slamming Portis in the line trying to run the clock.
skinsfan69 12-07-2007, 10:11 AM If we can win out, we are virtually guarenteed a playoff spot.
The interesting thing comes when you start asking "what happens when we go 2-1 to finish". We'd need a little help then, from New Orleans (over Arizona) and Denver (over Minnesota), but two and one still should get us in, provided that the one loss isn't against Minnesota.
If we lose to Minnesota, we have a better chance to catch the Giants than we do to catch the Vikings. Those games are going to be pretty critical, and we can't go unless we win at least one, hopefully two.
I hate to spoil everyone's happy mood today, but we ARE NOT going to win out. At NY and at Minn and then Dallas?? Not gonna happen.
scowan 12-07-2007, 10:14 AM Collins may not have the arm Campbell does, but last night he was confident, accurate and quick with his decisions, which were good decisions. That pass to Betts for the TD looked like a hot read facing a blitz, he let go of that one fast, and to the correct guy.
I am comfortable with him for the last 3 games if it comes to that, but MAN do we need to Run block better.... So much for Randy Thomas coming back and having an affect on our running game! Geez!

Thomas wasn't in for long, he left with a minor elbow injury.

You'd make a hell of a head coach.
Seriously though, what's wrong with having a little faith? Sure it's a long shot but why deny people the right to believe? It's harmless

Stranger things have happened.
Does anyone really think we can't play with the Giants and Vikings? If anything those are going to be some hard fought games.
And with Dallas possibly resting their starters in week 17 why couldn't we win out?
theJBexperience 12-07-2007, 10:43 AM The only substantial pass where the receiver wasn't wide open was to Yoder, which was a good toss. Other than that, receivers were in spaces with no one around them. Whether it's a product of the Bears terrible coverage, or Collins knowing Saunders' system remains to be seen, but the Collins backers will be in for a shock if they think the quarterback can toss meatballs around every week.
So, Collins connected with a lot of wide open receivers, which begs the question why did he? Did he make decisions and release quicker than JC? Or did the Bears change their scheme with him? Did the Bears stop covering because they were so intimidated by Saunder's student?
I'm thinking it's TC's quick decisions and release. That has been a knock on Campbell for a while. He can hold onto the ball too long.
RiggoDrill 12-07-2007, 11:10 AM There is a reason Collins has been an NFL qb for 13 years. There is a reason why Al Saunders wanted to bring him here to be the backup. He is intelligent AND capable. He knows the offense as well as anybody, he is a student of the game and will probably have a long career in coaching as soon as he hangs up the cleats. He did a very nice job last night in relief, and IF he, and the o-line, can repeat that performance against a Giant's D that is better than the Bears, then the Skins have a good chance of winning and staying alive for a playoff spot.
In the grand scheme of things, this may actually help JC in the long run. He has seemed to be pressing and not comfortable. Obviously choking at the worst possible moments. Maybe he can go to school watching Collins for a game or two.
What the hell........better to take the high road ehh??????
It was sooo nice to see actual passing...............touchdowns.................. .BY PASSING
