IMO after week two of this season Spags was writting his ticket out of NY. So he got hot over the past six weeks and won the SB, that doesn't mean he is going to be a great HC or even a great DC. He had one great year. IMO I would rather have GW as a DC then Spags he has better record in the long run.

So does The Danny announce Fassel as HC despite overwhelming public distaste? This entire coaching search was a clusterf#ck from the beginning. We probably would have had a much better shot at Spagnuolo if he could have selected his staff. Frankly, I would prefer Schwartz over Fassel.
Yea, the Giants were in his ear telling him this wasn't a good situation b/c he wouldn't be able to pick his staff. We don't know that he was offered the job or not though. It's widely laughed at around the league that our staff is already in place before a HC. It's makes this job less attractive to candidates.
Let's get on w/ it and hire somebody. I do like Schwartz too, but i'd settle for Fassel...i guess. I agree though about the search. It's not been a smooth process.
Did we even have a potential HC candidate list prior to JG's leaving? College basketball AD's always have "list" of qualified young coaches to interview if there coach gets a promotion or whatever. VCU actually went above and beyond to bring together young asst coaches so they could get a jump on HC searches b/c they know that they are a mid major. This has produced jeff capel, anthony grant. It really seemed like we didn't do our homework-we didn't have a list.
Meeks is widely thought of as not being ready
Fassel is currently unemployed and can't get a job
Mariucci: we pulled this one out of the bag late in the process
Schwartz i like but as JS said himself to DS..."why are you interviewing me when my mentor is already on your staff"
Spags: Is thought of as being impressive
Anyways, let's make a hire.

I think he read Sally Jenkins article last night.
Fassel has been the favorite all along, just hire him and get it over with.

Right now do you know who would look pretty good? Russ Grimm.
Why not? He's been in the running for a couple of teams. He would have a good staff around him. Why not? It's not going to happen but wonder why he hasn't been interviewed.
But yes, just hire Fassel and get it over with.

LOL yeah I didn't realize our season was dependent on a first year HC.
I have been curious as to what fans reaction would have been to Fassel four years ago, when he was considered a strong candidate prior to Gibbs' return.

Looks like we've got our man who won't mind being fired next year when Bill Cower becomes available.
Good luck on your job security Fassel. Hometown fans don't want you and Snyder covets a coach who is unavailable until next year. You're just the man for the job.
I give Fassel a 60% chance of getting fired after this year. He's easily fireable. That's not a knock of JF, more of a knock on DS.

His defense wasn't looking so good when Minn ran them over for 41 points. The Giants defense had some really really bad games. Yeah they got hot when it mattered most but I'd take Greg Williams over this guy anyday of the week. Glad your staying in NY.

This link says it all. We DID NOT OFFER him the job when he made his move.
