God dont let him stay a skin.
Brandon LloydCampbell17 02-07-2008, 09:33 PM God dont let him stay a skin. DynamiteRave 02-07-2008, 09:42 PM He's gone. Hope the door doesn't hit him in the mangina on the way out. Bill B 02-07-2008, 10:12 PM is he actually that expensive to keep? By cutting him, we'd have to pay out the rest of his signing bonus this year right? while I too am sick of him, perhaps a new head coach, system, coordinator, etc may be able to find some use... Llyod is due a roater bonus March 1 of this year in the amount of $1.8 million. I don't see Synder & Co. keeping him on the roster to give him that bonus. My bet is the Skins cut him so he doesn't get that bonus and than designate him a June 1 Cap cut so the cap hit gets spread out over the next 2 years. As Schneed and Crazy Canuck and other capologists on ths site have pointed out, the SKins can easily cut Llyod as far as the cap goes. My take is Llyod has very little production over the 2 years he has been here. I know that some of his supporters say that he just never got a chance, but I call that BS. Outside of QB whom Gibbs shows a lot of patience with (keeping Brunell as the starter even though he was injured for too long) I think Gibbs puts in the players that perform well, practice with 100% effort and show a willingness to do whatever it takes to win. Gibbs does not seem the type to hold grudges against anyone and purposefully hold back a talented player. From the reports I read of Llyod and how he was here and in SF, he has shown what he is capable of - which is not much. Instead of prolonging a failing experiment, the Skins should just go with Moss, Randle El and I bet they can find a tall, poession reciever (Mix may be the answer) and let some other team find out what the 49ers and Burgundy and Gold have found out - Brandon Llyod is all hype and no game. Skinny Tee 02-07-2008, 11:20 PM Lloyd and Gregg Williams share the same odds of being Redskins at the start of next season. By the way, I believe that Lloyd is a Cerrato move coming from his 49er roots. That worked out like a lead balloon. MTK 02-08-2008, 08:41 AM Some people just won't give up on this guy. Amazing. Slingin Sammy 33 02-08-2008, 08:48 AM By the way, I believe that Lloyd is a Cerrato move coming from his 49er roots. That worked out like a lead balloon. This was actually an Al Saunders move. So IMO the front office gets a pass on Lloyd, they just brought in what the new "offensive guru" requested. NFL Preview: Al Saunders on the attack for Redskins | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com (http://hamptonroads.com/node/150111) "The free agents had to be able to get deep, to draw enough attention from linebackers, corners and safeties to give mercurial Santana Moss more man-to-man coverage or make room for Cooley's new, deeper pass routes. Once the defense is spread, Portis' chances of gashing them with breakaway runs would increase dramatically. The two players Saunders thought offered the best chance to make that happen: San Francisco's Brandon Lloyd and Pittsburgh's Antwaan Randle El. In mid-March, Washington traded for Lloyd and signed Randle El. "He pushed hard for them," said Bob Saunders, Al's son and a Redskins assistant. "Everyone knows what Brandon can do on the football field, his speed, the acrobatic catches. With Randle El, it's what he can do in the slot, the double moves, his cutting ability. Getting them really expanded the offense." SouperMeister 02-08-2008, 09:11 AM Llyod is due a roater bonus March 1 of this year in the amount of $1.8 million. As Schneed and Crazy Canuck and other capologists on ths site have pointed out, the SKins can easily cut Llyod as far as the cap goes.My limited understanding of the cap is that if we cut him before the roster bonus is due, we cannot designate him as a June 1st cap cut. I'm pretty sure that signing bonuses can only be prorated over 5 seasons. That being the case and assuming Lloyd is cut before this March roster bonus, $6M will accelerate against our 2008 cap, and Lloyd will be off the books by 2009. The previous post regarding Al Saunders pitching to get Lloyd may be another factor in the Danny's urgency to replace Saunders with Zorn. skinsfan69 02-08-2008, 10:49 AM New OC, new HC = a new start for BL. My take on this is last year the staff gave up on the guy after that INT in the first game of the year. After that he just didn't get enough passes thrown his way. You can't produce if they don't throw you the ball. I say bring him back and let him compete. It's not like we're loaded at WR. I mean wr is a weak spot on the team IMO. The FO should bring in as many wr's as possible and let everybody compete for their jobs. firstdown 02-08-2008, 10:59 AM Problem is that the 'system' was not B. Lloyd's problem. It's his attitude, his work ethic, and his relationship with pretty much every member of the team. Later. If I remember correctly the players cheered for him last year when he finally caught a ball. I'm not so sure that he is hated so much by the players. jrocx69 02-08-2008, 03:22 PM Some people just won't give up on this guy. Amazing. some people just dont read the whole post:doh: |
