I honestly think that Lloyd was never given a chance here. He may have been a victim of the offense war between Gibbs and Saunders. Gibbs had the ultimate say of who got on the field ya know... Lloyd will be gone to STL. we have to make room to get Ocho Stinko
Never given a chance. He was given enough chances to find out he stinks. You know Niners fans were secretly laughing their asses off when they found out we took him cause they knew he was gonna do squat.
In fact, I think they were pretty glad to get rid of him.

I was siked when we got him. His hands and vertical leap are among the best in the NFL. He's just completely inept at separating defenders, which pretty much makes him worthless. 0% chance he stays.

I'd trade Lloyd for a lame horse, then I'd shoot the horse.

My limited understanding of the cap is that if we cut him before the roster bonus is due, we cannot designate him as a June 1st cap cut. I'm pretty sure that signing bonuses can only be prorated over 5 seasons. That being the case and assuming Lloyd is cut before this March roster bonus, $6M will accelerate against our 2008 cap, and Lloyd will be off the books by 2009.
The previous post regarding Al Saunders pitching to get Lloyd may be another factor in the Danny's urgency to replace Saunders with Zorn.
Soupmeister - I think teams are allowed 2 roster exceptions regarding this issue:
Prior to the start of the league year, teams may designate up to two (2) veteran players that they will cut after June 1 to spread out the signing bonus escalation (See 1.9b). In so designating them, the team allows these players to become free agents at the start of the free agency period -- although their cap liability remains with the original team just as it would have if the player had stayed on the roster until after June 1.
This was from the link (see section 1.14 part 6) that Hijinx just posted....

They let him go for a reason, and we picked him up hoping he would turn his career around. We were wrong. I had him tabbed as a potentially VERY good WR, boy that egg STILL hasn't washed off my face! I'm not making that mistake again, get rid of him and let Mix have his job. It's not like Mix can do any worse. All Mix needs is 4 catches to DOUBLE Lloyd's production from 07!

And don't forget if one of those 4 catches is a touchdown that will be more TD's than Llyod caught in his tenure as a Skin!
