I have been a huge backer of snyder in the regards that he wants to win and spends tons of money trying(good or bad) But, this latest debacle of a coaching search makes it difficult to defend. GW had the backing of the players, these players loved GW. We saw for 4 years how these guys didn't lay down, or throw in the towel especially when we were losing badly those two years. I think it damages the moral of the players when the owner doesn't listen to the hearts of his players or common sense for that matter. The reason GW isn't here is because he wanted some control, and we will all have to face it, that with Dan and Vinny no coach of any quality will take this job if he cant have some control. Fassell, Mariucci,Meeks all want to be head coaches and will settle for about anything to get back in the game. The other guys Cowher, Spags, Mora, Carroll know they can not work under those rules and pulled out, or never even concidered the job. Dan Snyder has taken the easiest decision he would have ever had and turned it into a 3 ring circus and again has us as the laughing stock of the NFL. We have let a great person, and coach walk out the door when all we had to do was move him into the position and we could have kept going in the same direction we were going in. I dont understand the impatience of this front office, never wanting to build on success. they want to try and make radical changes to push us over the top, but those changes have done nothing but make us take a few steps back the years after we take 1 step forward.
I am just tired of all the BS, hire someone and lets get on with it. We are all ready behind 31 other teams in the NFL as far as getting ready for the draft. Oh wait, maybe not. I am sure Danny and Vinny all ready have the kid they want to draft, they just have to tell fassell who they are drafting.
what a joke this organization has become

So... Mora Jr. and Spagnoulo decided to stick with their own teams, Cowher is taking a 2 year hiatus, Carroll wasn't coming back without control, and all of a sudden this is a devalued HC job?? Sorry JLC, thanks for stirring the pot but I'm not buying.

I believe I heard Mora was offerred the job? and chose not to take it. It could have certainly been because he wanted to stay in Seattle giving the fact he will be coach next year. Spags wouldn't have been able to get his people, which I think was a huge factor in him resigning with NY. with Cowher, I truly believe he wasn't taking the job because of the front office structure and fact he wouldn't have control of personel or his staff. Money always talks, his hiatus would be only temporary if Danny offerred enough money.

I don't think there was ever any concrete evidence of Mora Jr. being offered the job. Just rumors and speculation.

Spags came into a similar situation in NY, he came in as the DC with his assistants already in place and it wasn't an issue for him then.

I believe the skins have had the most # of head coaches in the NFL since DS took over in 99.

I respect everyone's opinion but the way that we do things in the FO, has to be a factor in the head coaches that would be interested in this position. Think about it. HC's don't want to be dictated to. They want to do things their way for the most part. They want to bring their guys in, who they are comfortable with. They don't want to be told who is going to be on their staff. What happens on a team w/ a new hc? They get rid of 90% of the old staff.

Who knows whether we offered the job to Spags or Mora, but regardless they both chose to pull out of consideration. Others aren't going to come here b/c of what i mentioned above. I'm not necessarily for giving a HC 100% control, but I do believe they should have control over their staff.

I don't think the season is over and i'm going to be a fan of whoever they hire. However that doesn't mean I have to agree w/ the way DS and VC do things as it's a little f'd up.

My far reaching theory is that he and Cerrato are holding choice till they can work through the draft themselves and then hire the coach to coach the team. Oh coach along with Dan and Vinny's assistants as well.

I'm all for a Redskin Fan burn out in front of offices to revolt against what he has not done and will do if he hires rehash coaches.

Would you want to be the HC of a team with NO control of your own staff? Seriously, thats like starting a business and having some 3rd party choosing your partners for you, who wants that?

No, it's nothing like that at all. The new coach will have no financial repurcussions for failure if that should happen. This situation is much closer to an executive board hiring in a CEO after they have put in place a solid management team. That happens all the time in business and it the expected norm for the most part. This coach is getting paid (well I might add) to manage players and staff, and that is nothing like starting a business.

One thing that looks really bad on the skins are the reports that somehow come out about a couple candidates.

Spags: He wasn't ready for a HC position yet. Per his agent not true.

GW: He said disparaging comments about JG's. Not true.

Now we don't have proof who the sources were the leaked these smear tactics but the new skins front office has been known in the past for these types of things.

So whether they've come from the FO or not we don't know, but it looks bad all the same.

Um yeah that is pretty far out there.

Doing that would be a complete disaster. It won't happen.
