He is doing everything himself. All interviews at his house. Some HC candidates are sleeping in his guest house.
Mr. Smootsmack - are you saying he is not involved in every aspect of the decision making of football operations?

Of course he's involved. He should be involved. But meetings at his house are nothing new and not a big deal. Would you prefer they be at your house?

And it's not like these are one on one meetings. Cerrato is there, other members of the ownership group are there.

I don't know. I really don't see him being involved with the interviews can be seen as a negative. Imagine the backlash if after a coach is selected Snyder said "I have nothing to say. I stayed out of it" "What? You're the owner of the damn team and you're not involved??? Go back to Johnny Rockets!"

Snyder is always going to have his hand in things, like it or not. To what degree he does or has in the past nobody really knows. I guess it's just convenient to assume he's at fault for everything.

Are there any owners that don't have their hands in team affairs?

True.

I know if I owned a team I would be involved. How about everyone else?

Any owner should be involved, but finding common sense in his actions is not exactly easy. Maybe there is a grand plan that is eluding the mass majority of us, but more and more it looks like DS doesn't know what he's doing. I don't really care who the next coach is going to be. I know they'll have one and I'll root for the team, but this disorganized mess is making it hard to get too excited.

Then they should put up a picture of Snyder with the slogan, "The buck doesn't stop here."
Because nobody knows who is calling the shots or taking ultimate responsibility.
So you are saying there is no leadership it is run by committee?

I would be neck-deep in team affairs. I would almost totally defer to the "experts" when it comes to player acquisition and cap matters. However, I would want total control over the makeup of the coaching staff (though I would listen to others about the coach's abilities).

I must admit that I do like some of the things Dan Snyder has done in the community he lives in, it's hard not to appriciate that.

But getting down to football he is not a very good owner. What has this team won in the time he has been the owner? We've had three playoff appreances and that's it. Two of those three came in the four years Gibbs came back. Joe again has left the team in much better shape than he found it. I'm sure that Dan has his reasons for taking so long to hire a HC but still there must be something wrong with his approach in all of this that has keep him for hiring someone by now or that has made others say I don't want the job. It might be that no other coach wants to work for him other as the HC other than Fassal. Tell me that Meeks or Spags is not a much better choice than Fassal and Gregg Williams certainly was. The truth is The Washington Redskins have not been worth a damn under the ownership of Dan Synder and that's just that. I hope he sells the team soon. Because we as fans will never celebrate another world title with the team under Dan and his flunky Vinny C. Jack Kent Cook didn't agree with a lot of things Joe Gibbs wanted to do when Joe worked for Cook but he did so and things turned out pretty damn good I'd say, four Super Bowl trips and three Lombardi trophies to show for it.
Dan should have listen to Gibbs and hired Williams and things would have turned out much better for the team. It's truly a shame that this team is probably going to be around mediocore or worse with all of the talent it has just because the owner can't or want listen to the man who got this team back into the playoff 2 out of 4 years after being out of the league for 12 years and as I said earlier he has left the team in far better shape than he found it. It's a sad, sad time for the team and the fans.

But I've been pulling for the Skins for to long now to turn away so I'll just hope that things turn out well no matter who Dan hire as the HC.

So no I wouldn't want to be the guy hired as head coach after the OC and DC have been put in place. Because I would feel like I didn't have any control or the respect of the other coaches or the players.
Dang we let GW go and I guess or SB went right out the door with him. How do you know if we are better off with GW by his record as a head coach?

I'm just saying we don't know that he's calling ALL of the shots as you say.

My guess is Cerrato has a pretty big say in things.

I seem to recall the whole negotiation with the Bears LB that Snyder hot for this last offseason. I remember hearing Snyder negotiating with the guy in a bar with out Gibbs or any of the defensive coaches aware or consulted in any way about if they even wnated him. This is an example of Snyder getting too involved over his head.
