jsarno 02-21-2008, 05:33 PM Not really sure what will happen with KM. As for Key, I think that the Dolphins are most likely to give him close to what he wants (money-wise)
LOL...they really are dumb. Here is one of the oldest teams in the NFL, shedding old players (see Zach Thomas) and now they want to sign an old wr?
Like the guiness brothers say..."Brilliant!"
Slingin Sammy 33 02-21-2008, 05:34 PM Well, that sucks. LOL.
WOW...so why haven't we dropped Brunell? That would save us 3.4 mil.
For that matter, why not Daniels too? Between the two that would save us 6.387 mil for dead weight!
The team may be waiting until after FA and the draft to make sure we have Collins signed and other backup QBs under contract. Also if they want to defer the Release Fee over two seasons and help the cap a little more in 2008 they will wait until after June 1 to release Brunell. I wouldn't drop Daniels yet, depth on the DL is a major concern, Daniels is a veteran and understands Blache's system and can mentor the new young DLineman (from the draft hopefully). $ 3.7M is not a ridiculous cap number for a starting DLineman. Daniels is solid, he is not a liability.

Thanks for your patience with helping me understand the cap more.
I hope that is the case and not that we are wanting to keep Brunell. He has nothing over a rookie at this point IMO. I'd rather take a chance on a QB out of the draft than keep him around with that horrendous salary.
About Daniels, I agree that 3.7 mil is not much for a dlineman, and his 2.0 mil cap number for 2009 is pretty easy to swallow too, but I do not agree he's solid. I thought he played poorly this year. DE is my #1 priority (again) this year with our first pick. So the question is, Is Daniels worth 3.7 mil as a back up? (although I understand the importance of waiting until the draft to be sure)

No worries, glad to help. Schneed and Canuck are really the experts at this stuff, if you search their posts you can usually find the answers to most cap questions.
I agree with you on DE being our #1 priority in the draft. I like Calais Campbell or Merrling from Clemson with our 21st pick. If both are gone then we look to CB or DT.
Skinsfan1967 02-21-2008, 07:31 PM Hackett for sure. A WR who will have an idea about the offense should help Jason.
Paintrain 02-21-2008, 07:38 PM I wouldn't be opposed to Hackett.. Hasselbeck did pretty good with less than stud WR for years..
In a perfect world I'd like Fitzgerald, Ocho or Roy Williams..

Well, I respect Canuck, and enjoy his posts...the other is the only person I ever put on my ignore list and won't soon get off.

I like Campbell too, and the mock drafts I have seen, he has fallen to us at #21.
I don't know a lot about Merrling, I'll need to look him up.
Skins4Life101 02-21-2008, 10:21 PM Plaxico Burress of Marques Colston...
prinzeofmoval 02-21-2008, 11:04 PM So right now the front runners would be Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, Javon Walker, Bryant Johnson, DJ Hacket, Bernard Berrian, Earnest Wilford, Malcom Kelly, Limas Sweed, Jordy Nelson, and Devin Thomas.
Out of that group I'd like to take a shot at Roy Williams. He's the most proven, still in his prime, and we wouldn't have to give up a first and a third to get him. After that Javon Walker since he has WCO experience, Elite WR experience, and still might be in his prime. Plus he would only cost us the value of whatever we sign him for.
what has Williams proved? He's another so-so reciever that in our system will fall through the cracks
