redsk1 04-02-2008, 10:34 AM It was mixed w/ cheers and boos. I think it's disrespectful to boo the Pres of the US. You don't have to like him or his views, but i find it pretty childish.
Show a little class.
While i don't like alot of the things that have happened over the last 7-8 years alot of people do a pretty good job playing monday morning qb on alot of the issues. It's just plain disrespectful. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all.
12thMan 04-02-2008, 10:38 AM Define common sense and common courtesy. Everyone has their own ideas of what they entail.
I don't think so, Angryssg; I disagree.
I think we agree more on what's considered to be courteous than not. To an extent I think you're right, but when you throw the word "common" in there, I think we're talking about what's generally and widely accepted as courteous.
For instance, even here, the Mods won't let people say what the want to other members all in the name of free speech, will they? Why is that?
Booing is mean and nasty? Like I said, I'm sure 'w' has heard far worse. I'm sure it wasn't the first time he was booed. Hell... he was booed and had eggs tossed at his limo at his inauguration in 2001. LOL
SmootSmack 04-02-2008, 10:40 AM If they really want to make a difference then get out and vote. What does booing really accomplish? I'm willing to bet one out of every three people there has no idea why they are booing other than they "don't like the President"

No booing in and of itself isn't mean and nasty. Shit, I love to boo...the other team not the President of the United States. But yeah, publicly booing the Prez is a tad bit mean.

Why is that any worse than booing someone like Joe Gibbs?
Gibbs runs a football team, W runs the country. If anyone deserves to be under heavy scrutiny I would say it's the President. I just don't get why he should get a free pass.
724Skinsfan 04-02-2008, 10:54 AM It's being able to boo the President and not get guillotined that makes living in this country a wonderful thing. I don't see it as a big deal to show your collective disapproval for the person running the show. Shouting obcene personal insults and death threats are obviously a different matter.

Do you always take the grocery cart back to the store or at least put it in the cart stall once you have finished putting your goods in your car? Better yet, do you put stray ones away? Do you pick up a piece of trash that you see lying in the middle of the street or sidewalk, or do you just ignore it because you didn't put it there.
To me it is common sense and common courtesy to do these things, but others may not think so.

Matty, you're killing me! LOL
Man, like I said I'm not trying to split hairs. People can do what they want to do. Part of my dislike for the whole thing is I used to be in the military; first Gulf War. So I think part of it, with me at least, stems from the ingrained mentallity to respect the chain a command. But that's just me and my military experience. I can't hold folks to that type of standard nor do I intend to.
As far as Gibbs is concerned, in the arena of competative sports, booing and cheering takes on a different context. I think the environment itself produces that element.

Good point!
The sports arena is incomparable to that of the Presidency
