You can't judge a draft pick solely on how they performed in preseason. They just got in the league. Give em time to develop. Judge the 08 draft in 2010, not a week after the preseason. 70Chip 09-03-2008, 02:22 PM It really is getting ridiculous. We've heard people rail on the idea of using the draft more vs. free agents for years now. We finally have a deep draft and all 10 make the team and now THAT's a problem. Good grief. But it wasn't a good draft. That's the point. They're trying to pretend it is. If the Redskins were 4 - 12 last year, it would make sense, but they've been telling us they want continuity all along. And why does Jason Campbell have to be the one to tell those two turds to show up on time and study? You would think that Vinny Cerrato would feel some responsibility in that regard since he now has maximum authority. MTK 09-03-2008, 02:28 PM But it wasn't a good draft. That's the point. Hard to tell if it was a good draft or not considering these guys haven't even taken the field in a regular season game. Let's talk in 2-3 years when we can properly evaluate this draft. As for your comment on JC talking to the rookie WRs we really don't know what has been said to them behind closed doors and by who. Why do you assume that JC is the only one that has talked to them? First, we got(I am talking only in college terms now) a top punter, 2 top WR and a strong TE, a decent OL, and a standout QB - that's a good draft. Second, the Skins were a good team last year with all but one of their starters back, now is a GOOD time to get some youth in, let them learn the speed of the game. We did not NEED an impact player(always nice to find one if you can) Finally, next year all ten may be cut and then a bad draft it will have been, but for filling the backup positions with players who are in their prime learning days to learn from our best, and build on the Redskins traditions that Joe Gibbs et al brought back, I think this year could be a watershed that leads to Dan's first trophy. Thanks for listening :) 70Chip 09-03-2008, 03:15 PM WOW... Paintrain 09-03-2008, 04:34 PM I hope you're right, but I can't help the feeling that we've seen this movie before. Especially in regards to the two WRs. When? At what point in Redskins history have they drafted 2 WR in the same round (or draft for that matter) and it had the disastrous results you're predicting? |
