FRPLG 09-16-2008, 05:20 PM You seemed to leave off the part of what Portis said last week about his front line and how he never had any holes to run through and how he would like to run behind a better line for one week. BM said he should have not aired that in public and BM was right about that.
I'd agree about that.
hooskins 09-16-2008, 05:32 PM I can understand that but how'd you feel if I said you were a pretty worthless poster around here and you ought grow up a little and do a better job of not being an idiot? On top of that I think you've been a pretty large disappointment on the path for a long time and you're getting way too muchy credit for things. Now I don't believe those things but when a guy is CONSTANTLY throwing shit at you I don't blame CP at all for getting pissed and calling him out. Maybe he shouldn't get all testosteroned up but I don't know that I blame him.
I would probably cry while sipping on some Jack, and then call my mother :(.
I see what you are saying, though. Especially if you are getting flack for many years. I don't know what I would've done in CP's situation, but I just think he sounded really bad in the interview. Whenever I get worked up about stuff like that, I've always noticed my immediate response/words usually provide little to no benefit.
I also feel the same way about guests on the O'Rielly(sp) factor. Bill has the right to say whatever retarded nonsense he wants, but guests have to be better than and respond cleverly and calmly. They get on and stoop down to Bill's level, which just makes them worst.
Exhibit A, Camron:
YouTube - Camron on O'Reilly
Exhibit B, how to do it right, Colbert:
YouTube - Stephen Colbert on The O'Reilly Factor
Now CP didnt sound that out of control as Camron, but when you get angry, good logic and points just dont weigh as much.
skinsfan69 09-16-2008, 05:47 PM So if the coach, QB, linemen or nobody else seemed to take issue with the comments either in the press or off the record-which always gets reported anyway, who were they out of line to?
We don't really know if anyone took an issue with it or not. I'm sure something was said behind closed doors.
DIRTEE 09-16-2008, 06:10 PM Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, now B Mitch knows that Portis isn't the guy to pick on. And knowing is half the battle (the other half was in the parking lot).
irish 09-16-2008, 06:20 PM B-Mitch is right on this one. CP likes to shoot his mouth off and when he gets called on it he doesnt like it. What was amazing is that all the callers to the Sports Reporters show backed B-Mitch. I think fans are getting sick of CP's antics.
wolfeskins 09-16-2008, 06:20 PM b-mitch is, simply put, an ASS. he consistantly tries to get under peoples skin. he and portis have been at it for years. i think portis just finally let out his feelings after keeping them bottled up for so long. b-mitch is mr. negativity, i wish he would shut up and go away.
JoeRedskin 09-16-2008, 06:45 PM These are two guys with a lot of pride - and each seems to think their sh** don't stink. Mitchell, as an analyst, has always struck me as arrogant ("I played the game, so you can't tell me anything"). Clinton, meanwhile, seems to have a firm believe that "Clinton knows best". Inevitably, with their personalities, they are gonna knock heads.
Also, I was listening to Zorn's show on 980 at 4:00. He said he read Clinton's comments to the entire team and, essentially, told the team to suck it up and move on, that Clinton was still a Redskin (in the euphamistic sense) and still moving in the same direction as the team. Asked if he let the lineman vent any frustrations about the comments, Zorn said - I didn't let anybody talk, this ain't Oprah.
Portis' comments with the team were aired and put aside. Gotta tell you, I like Zorn's methods more and more.
EternalEnigma21 09-16-2008, 07:14 PM Here's my take (since I know everyone was waiting). Clinton is bothered because by questioning and calling out CP for not wanting to play in preseason and taking himself out of the game, mitch is questioning his committal to football and the team...
CP plays harder than almost any running back Ive ever seen. Mitchell calls him out for taking a breather after a 9 yard run like that's all he did... but he neglects to mention that he ran a 17 yard route and threw a huge chip block on a guy twice his size to protect his QB in the two plays before that and blocks for his receivers if he can... he gives his all every down that he's in the game, and feels that way and is offended by mitch's comments... but he doesn't quite know how to articulate that. CP got hurt in the preseason by laying the wood on an interception and he shouldn't have to "tone it down".
I DO think he should play in the preseason, and get over the playing scared crap, but I understand the Bmitch does come off as a complete hater and is overwhelmingly negative most of the time.
DIRTEE 09-16-2008, 07:18 PM Its too early in the season for this BS. B Mitch knows better than this. Hell, Tiki and Strahan don't even mess with the Giants like this.
ChillWill 09-16-2008, 07:35 PM Let's face it B'itch never started as a runnig back in this league so he can only speculate about being in shape for the position.
