What has JT shown that would warrant re-signing him, much less paying him $8M that he's due to come back next season? You must be seeing something that I can't. I was as excited as the next guy when we traded for Taylor, but I don't see him suddenly recapturing his Pro Bowl form next year at the age of 35. If he can't give you that level of play, then he's a huge liability at his current price tag.

If he's willing to take a pay cut I'll keep him, but if he wants more money let him go.

In the NFL there is always someone desperate as we were/are. If JT would like to shop around let him. If he would like to build on the commroderie with the guys we have he can stay. He's at the end of his career. He has money in the bank. If he wants $2.5 million a year I would sign him for 2years. So long as we are clearly open that he stunk up the joint last year and he will share playing time and be demoted about his roles. We have to look younger and within to fill the DE spot. Sigining him could alleviate our DT priority though I love Griff/Monty and Golston is okay we could use another fat boy like Monty possibly in the draft.
Don't we have to suffer with Daniels coming back next year???? How old is he going to be 35? Older??

When I look at Taylor I see one thing....$8.5M of freed up cap space. He's a MAJOR liability in the run game and has generated ZERO pass rush, he's not even drawing double teams. He is terrible as an RDE. We'd be much better off going with the young DEs the rest of the way to see what we have for next year. They can't be any worse that Taylor. You can see it in his play, his hearts not in football anymore. He wants to be in Hollywood. Maybe we could work a trade with Oakland for a couple of draft picks....LOL.

Gallery may be a bust to date, but at least he's younger and a big body that would give our fast fading O-line more depth.

^^ gallery is getting some serious coin right now, it would have to be a sign and trade deal to lower his cap hit but i dont see him taking less money when hes got a kings ransom in his back pocket.

I honestly don't think there's a wrong move here. But that's because I'm a glass half-full kind of guy. If you're more pessimistic by nature, then maybe there's no right move.
He's going to be expensive to keep, and we're in no way financially committed to him. Having him back next year will definitely help our four man pass rush. But if Blache is just going to do the same blitz packages he's doing now next year, there's no point in having Jason Taylor.
If Cerrato's got what it takes to be a good GM, he's already looking at the 2nd rounder that we traded for him as a sunk cost. Look, we all make mistakes, and an under the gun overbuy like Taylor is excusable. But you have to call the joint chiefs together, decide if Jason Taylor is worth $8 million for next season, and if he's not then you have to let him go.

They do the whole undersized defensive lineman thing better than the rest of the NFL.
When you take an offensive lineman at No. 2 overall, you expect him to be a tackle. But Gallery was a guard in the making, and Davis meddled in Turner's affairs, forcing Gallery to play tackle where he was totally overmatched.
As a Guard though, he's a potential Kendall replacement, should we want to go that route. He's almost exactly like Kendall, but far, far younger.

I dont think the raiders do anything better then any team. Oakland is where players go to die.
