Nope. Call me stubborn. Call me stupid. I don't want anything to do w/ a Cowboy...

Stubborn...Stupid....feel better? :) I admire your utter disdain for the Cowgirls. I really do.

A lot of people seem to think $8 million/year will be the going rate for Canty. Not sure how that number came about. Packers expected to be major players for him as well though.

Actually, quite honestly the only place I've heard about this significant interest in Canty is through JLC

Smootsmack vs JLC. Never has there been a battle so epic since Liquid vs Solid Snake.:D Either way I'm kind of bummed to hear that JLC might be the only one sprouting off this non-sense, but at least it'll show that I don't think like Vinny Cerrato.

I almost started a thread to ask how ya'll think our d-line now compares to other teams' d-line, but then I remembered this old thread.

I think we'll be in the top five in terms of tackles made by d-lineman, sacks and pressure on opposing QBs. I think we could be the best actually. I continue to expect a breakout by Monty, and now i wonder if seeing Al dominate up close will provide the motivation Monty needs to be that kind of player. (I'm far from an expert but I think the biggest thing holding Monty back from that kind of elite status is his motivation). Kedric gets better every year too, though his improvement is expected to be more gradual. Carter will benefit enormously from Al's presence. Ultimately I think we'll get the LDE situation handled adequately. Last but not least I think Griff plays like a warrior (again) this year.

... I know the Giants own a lot of big names and talent on their d-line, but it's worth remembering their d-coordinator, Bill Sheridan, has only 4 or 5 years in the NFL and this is his first shot at the position. Also worth a mention that Canty, who some of you shamefully coveted ;), hasn't been groomed in the 4-3. I don't see the G-men as the preordained best d-line group out there...

No doubt the D line is upgraded already, we desperately need the O line addressed though. Our D can stuff folks, but if we can't score more than say 13 points a game we will have a subpar record.

I don't know about sacks, but pressures and run stopping tackles I definitely think we will be top 5. Unless AH just doesn't motivate, but he has talked the right way so far, and I expect he will vastly improve the inside of the line, which translates to no more 4th qtr's where the opponent can just run the clock down.

As for the Giants, I think they will have all the media hype Dallas did last year. But I expect them to fizzle, unless their draft is above average. Their offense is not improved, (and I don't expect Plax back) and they brought two guys in who have had off-field issues. Like you said their D-Coordinator is new and now he has 7 egos to balance. Remember, before their SB run, the Giants often struggled with internal strife, I think that returns with a vengeance this year.

Every quote I have seen from Daniels makes me think he is trying to get a relatively big payday, he consistently makes these type of comments"We're getting closer to getting something done with the Redskins since Demetric left," Daniels said. "They know I don't want to switch teams, but I will."
I hope he comes back, but we may just have to go with Wilson et. al.

Man Wilson can't play RDE... he's smaller than some of our LBs (weight wise). The other youngsters are not to impressive either size wise and btw have squat for experience. I really think Daniels will be back but doubt he can hold the position by himself. Worst comes to worst he rotates w/ 1) Carter, who switches side on passing downs and Wilson comes in at RDE (this is a nice pass rush complement IMO but probably doesn't ever happen) 2) a DE we draft this year (i highly doubt we take one with our first pick though).

Kind of a hind sight 20/20 type deal, but if we had drafted Calias Campbell instead of Fred Davis we wouldn't have given up a second round pick for Jason Taylor, Phillip Daniels might have stayed healthy a little longer (seriously I mean if Campbell's there maybe Daniels isn't in on that rep that takes him out for the year), and we'd most likely have our starting LE poised to have a big season with Haynesworth in the middle.

That is a VERY depressing post. Thanks
