DBUCHANON101 08-17-2009, 11:33 PM I believe by now everyone knows my stand on ol JC but if its gonna be his last shot at least give the kid a chance. why put in the other 3 for most of the preseason games if you know he needs work? if he loses his job at least let it be because someone beat him by being better, not by taping his hands. i wouldnt even feel right if it happened that way,
53Fan 08-17-2009, 11:35 PM I agree with what you're saying. There's a fine line though with playing starters too much and taking the chance of them getting hurt in the preseason. But I think we should, and will, play them more often in the next couple of games. Like you said, I don't want to wait until we play the Giants to start trying to get our offense going. By the way, thanks for serving our country. :food-smil
DBUCHANON101 08-17-2009, 11:36 PM You're making a lot of sense D101. Are you alright man? :)

let me take a few shots and ill be back to my ol self :)

Did 8yrs until the knees started to go.. but i wouldnt trade it for anything. no regrets.
htownskinfan 08-18-2009, 12:30 AM Clearly we need to score more points on a more consistent basis. Even "kool aid drinkers" will tell you that.
I knew the kool aid comment would get a reaction, lol:)
htownskinfan 08-18-2009, 12:37 AM So basically you are writing off the whole season based on 10 offensive plays by the starters(minus portis and moss)? Have some patience my friend, its was only 10 plays. Come back with that argument after 2 more games and maybe it would be relevant.
no,thats not at all what I was saying.Where do I say that? Last yr we had trouble scoring, trend continues so far this preseason.I said if that same trend continues throughout this preseason then i think it will carry over to reg season,in no way shape or form did i imply this season was lost on this game
htownskinfan 08-18-2009, 12:53 AM I guess it's okay to not count the Detroit game for PPG purposes, but in the 15 OTHER GAMES WHERE NO ONE BUT THE OFFENSE SCORED this is apparently not a factor.
youve lost me,I dont know what your point is? I didnt check the first 5 games because thats where he ended.I was trying to make the point we had trouble scoring last yr,I think everyone would agree with that.We def did a better job 4 out of the 5 first games than the rest of the season.27 other teams scored more points than us last yr.

If Asante Samuel intercepts a ball, and returns it for 6 points, the Eagles "offensive PPG" goes up 6-7 points. But their offense never stepped on the field!
Teams can expect roughly 3-5 TDs from sources outside of their offense per year. Some teams will get more, others less. Your claim that the Redskins did not score 20 points but two times after week 5 is correct, but I took exception to the fact that you pointed out that the Redskins offense did not produce 20 points against Detroit without the help of its' special teams. The problem: is that if our defense and special teams had been less pathetic in this aspect, we could have scored 20 points in more than half our games without a single additional point from the offense.
In trying to disqualify one of the six games we did break the 20 point threshold (which is an arbitrary cutoff with no meaning, but thats a different debate), you implied that we were reliant on defense/special teams to reach our scoring levels. That couldn't have been more incorrect, which is why I corrected you.
And yes, I am a nitpicky little biaotch.

Thats why I said come back after a couple of more games with that argument. It just seems you are jumping the gun here.

So, if I understand you right, your concern is that the first preseason game is a continuation of the struggles we ended the previous year with. And you're thinking what in the world have we been doing all off-season and mini-camp and OTAs and training camp if we're no better? And I can understand that frustration. What I thought you were saying, and maybe you are, was that last preseason's offensive struggles led right into the same during the regular season. And that wasn't really the case because we got off to a pretty strong start
