I would've bought a Droid by now but because of the type of work I do I wouldn't want to have it anywhere near where I work haha. Too often I get chemical on my pants/pocket and my Voyager has a cracked screen because sometimes a lot of pressure gets put on my pockets and that's how it ended up cracked. I wouldn't want to risk that with a nice ass phone like the Droid or the Iphone coming to Verizon in January.

get the invisible shield and then put a case around it

I have the 3GS iPhone, and I recently upgraded the software to 4.0 OS. Pretty cool features. I REALLY like that you run other apps with Pandora playing, and being able to create folders for apps definitely cuts down on clutter. And of course you can now have your apps sitting on top of your background pictures.

I LOVE the camera/camcorder functionality of the new 4G. Apparently Apple got some guys from Canon to come design it.

I hear the 4GS comes out around Christmas time, which is right when I'm eligible for an upgrade. So I'll wait until then.

I love that all of that came stock from the beginning with my droid ;)

Eh. I've played with the droid. It's nice, but not all that. And the stock camera with the droid isn't anything close to what the iPhone 4G brings. Droid is a nice phone, especially the 2nd generation that recently came out. But I'd still prefer the functionality of the iPhone. Mac just does it better. And I say that as I type this post from a PC.

GMScud, couldn't disagree more. I currently have an iPhone -- but Apple is behind the curve with technology. The 4G comes with a bunch of stuff android based phones have had for some time. I know people dropping the iPhone like crazy in favor for other smart phones. There's a reason Apple losses market share every quarter.

Apple has a way of marketing their products that develops blind loyalty. Heck for my son's birthday he wanted an ipod Nano. I swear we had the same conversation as the two bears!
ME- But this other mp3 player has a touch screen,
SON- "is it a ipod",
ME- no,
SON- "then i don't want it",
ME- but it plays songs, has more memory,
SON- "can i get it in green",
ME- no but you can get a case,
SON- "so is it an ipod",
ME-(shaking my head) no, ipod is just a marketing name,
SON- "ok dad so can i get the nano"

seriously, had this conversation in best buy, and wanted to go off on my own son like the evo sales bear did. Of course I didn't but geez how does Apple get into his head and he is only 11???

Dealing with one carrier will do that. That's going to change soon enough though.

It is just like fashion, same reason they have to wear a Holster shirt vs. a Wal Mart.

I remember when I was younger we skied a ot and I always had to have a CB jacket, they were super expensive and did nothing different then a non-CB jacket but I had to have it cause it was cool.

Matty -- I don't think so. While AT&T isn't the most stellar carrier ever, a lot of the people leaving cite the phone far more often than AT&T. After using the N1 and Evo -- they destroy the iPhone 4 on many levels. To each their own, but I just hate that Apple could release anything and people buy it without comparing it to other products. The iPhone was pretty revolutionary at the time, but it has since slipped towards the middle of the pack as far as performance and features.

You really don't think opening up the iPhone to other carriers is going to result in an increased market share for them? Did you see how many 4G iPhones they have sold already?

It will increase their market share, sure. Never said it wouldn't. However the more time that goes on, the more I see people jumping off the iPhone bandwagon. I'm saying the people that are dumping their iPhones now aren't doing it because of AT&T, they're doing it because of better phones.
