This isn't about 6 year olds getting condoms for crying loud, it's about education. I was playing with my parents condoms when I was that age. I thought they were balloons and didn't understand why these balloons were greasy. Finally one day, my parents got wind that my brother and I were using their balloons as water balloons and told us to never touch "their" balloons or else. A few years later my father told us about the birds and the bees and told us about condoms and we both went ewww and that was that.
It's not fucking rocket science and if they don't learn from you they will learn from those nasty little kids they go to school with. It is best you teach them before they learn in school, whether through teachers or peers.

well, the article did say the student would have to request the condoms from the school nurse who could refuse to provide the condoms for reasons such as age.
so unless 1st graders know what condoms are, i dont see many 1st graders being like "yo bitch, hold that snapper open just a lil bit longer, i gotta go see nurse jones for some of them jimmy hats."
idk, sounds like the people thought it would be for high schoolers, not every kid in school from 1st grade and up. while that one board guy grosso is qouted as saying "they will revisit it", I find it suspicious that Fox news in the article states that he said or implied 1st graders should get condoms but didnt qoute him.
just sounds like some general idea tossed out there and noone thought of putting an age restriction in until people started realizing and complaining of the overly broad language, i dont think anyone intended to give 1st graders condoms.
this fucking courrier better hurry the f up. supposed to be here at 2 to have something filed with court in dc by 4. i called at 2:30 and he said he was sending someone.
Yeah obviously including "first graders" in the title is sensationalizing just a tad.

We're talking about giving a safety device to a child, and you relate that to giving guns, drugs and alcohol to children? Reach a little farther...
Nobody is encouraging sex -- they're encouraging safety, if anything.
And you think a six year old is mature enough to make that choice ..... really ?? Maybe we can give kids a nice pair of boots after graduating elementary school and ask them if they would like to hike MT Everest . Or a sail boat to sail across the world , after all , its their choice .....
Sometimes I feel like I've crossed over into the twilight zone. I'm glad my grandfather didn't long enough to see this. He would've been so ashamed. To think we're actually talking about whether it's right or wrong to give children condoms. WTF? I'm out.
Do you really think in your Grandfather's time kids weren't bonking in the hay barn?

That seems reasonable, but the Mass schools have circumvented the parents.
Obviously the school board felt comfortable doing what they did and it's up to the parents to voice their dissatisfaction. Democracy is both beautiful and ugly.

Children shouldn't be having sex.
No, the welfare of a child is the responsibility of the parents, not the government.
I agree ...

Seriously, guess what folks even the Beav was horny on Leave it to Beaver. So many people want the world to look like a Norman Rockwell painting.

I'm definitely not saying the answer is to hand out condoms like candy, but I also don't think the answer is to think telling kids "no" is going to stop them.
Totally agree.

yeah back in the leave it to beaver days, it was also common for someone to take a 12 year old bride...
i agree though, the title is misleading, and a bit sensationalistic in nature.
Bottom line, kids are having sex in elementary school...its happening majorly, and if nobody will discourage it, then they at least need to know the consequences...
