Let me ask a simple question here about the good but not "special" [whatever that means] Joe Flacco:


If he magically were transferred to the Washington Redskins for the 2011 season, could he make the Skins' roster - - even if he would not know Kyle Shanahan's offense that is more complicated than String Theory?

Now an observation:

Flacco just took some heat for going to the playoffs 3 years in a row and winning a game in those three playoffs on the basis that it was the Ravens' defense that carried him. There is a germ of truth in there; the Ravens' defense is REALLY good...

HOW-EVAH, there are more than a few folks here who seem to think the fact that Rex Grossman was the QB for the Bears' Super Bowl team proves that he is a bona fide starting QB of above average capability. The Bears' defense that year was also REALLY good...

I suspect that Flacco would get a lot more respect here if the color of his uniform were different...

Raven's fans are his biggest critics. I know a ton that beleive they have missed out on SB glory becasue of him. I am not agreeing with them just pointing them out.

I think the biggest issue for Bradford is can he stay healthy. So far so good.

Just on a side note and this doesn't make beleive what Flacco is or will be but if I see another Wacko for Flacco sign again I am going to scream.

If Flacco is JC, then you have just thrown the rest of the Redskins' roster under the bus.

Flacco's team has made the playoffs more than once; JC and the Redskins were also-rans. If Flacco = JC, that can only mean that the rest of the Skins team stunk it up and cost a playoff berth.

I would bet strongly against Sam Bradford's career breaking into the second coming of Rick Mirer. The sample size of one season is too small to accurately draw this parallel. But if I was a betting man, that would be a good place to push the chips right now while expectations are unreasonable.

It was in a completely different offensive philosophy and is hardly a strong comparison, but 2008 Joe Flacco>2010 Sam Bradford in most every way.

Still, Matt Ryan's rookie year was the best year by a rookie QB in all the year's I've been following the NFL.

What are you talking about? Flacco matched Eli's career year numbers in literally half the time (3 years to 6).

Schuab fine but Eli? Thats just good old fashion hatting.If you cut Eli's career off just three years into it, where Flacco is now in his career, you could certainly argue for Flacco. Eli wasn't all that good before the run leading up SB42. Was a huge projection on the $100 million extension that the Giants gave him, hoping he could sustain performance.

But understand that the passing environment has changed considerably over that timeframe, and Flacco didn't develop in an era where the standard passing statistics were 6.7 YPA and less than 60% completion. Passing is up since the middle of the decade, and so is scoring.

I am a fan of Joe Flacco the person (much as I am a fan of Rex Grossman, the person), and would greatly enjoy his success. But if he ever gets to the level that Eli is currently at, I would be stunned.

Don't blame Houston's awful D on Schaub. Flacco actually has accuracy as well, something JC will never consistently have.There is no meaningful difference between Flacco's accuracy numbers (from completion percentage right down the line), and Campbells accuracy numbers. They're basically the same player at this point in their careers.

I like Campbell more this year from a fantasy perspective because I like Oakland's proven ability to get vertical over Baltimore's stated attempt to get faster on the outsides. And as a check down receiver, Darren McFadden is the best in the business (not that Ray Rice is a slouch). Flacco is playing a ton of bad pass defenses though, so he has that going for him.

What can I see. Snyder was a big fan of Summer Catch. He figured if someone looking like that could hook up with Jessica Beil they could hook the team up with a Super bowl win.
