The Correct Singing Of The National Anthem

Without multiplying the number of syllables in every word by 4.

The WAY she sang the Anthem was disrespectful, just as much as not knowing the words. It's meant to be sung the way it was written, not mutilated into a pop song to bring attention on yourself. It's a reverent song, not meant for entertainment.

Sing it properly and if you have to sing it publicly, MEMORIZE THE WORDS. She has been singing it since she was a kid in the Mickey Mouse Club and it a professional singer (even though she's a horrible one). There are no excuses for her botching the words.

I will not say she was disrespectful because I think in her mind she was trying to do her best but went way way way over board. I'll also give her a pass on the words because she was trying so hard to hit all those notes she lost her place in the song. It happens but should not happen on that big of a stage. I'd really like to hear her opinion of how she thinks it sounded.

Even in rehearsals, Aguilera gives a magnificent vocal performance. The people I have heard talking about the NA really did not care she missed a few words they thought the rendition itself sucked. They actually have the nerve to compare it the Whitney Houstons. Some time you just have to wonder who writes this crap.

How about you take a moment at the beginning of your office meetings to sing the national anthem? Do the pledge of allegiance too while you're at it.

Personally, I don't need the anthem to remind me of the freedom afforded to me by our Constitution. To each his own I suppose.

"After America’s entrance into World War I, Major League Baseball games often featured patriotic rituals, such as players marching in formation during pregame military drills and bands playing patriotic songs. Is there a rule somewhere stating how the anthem should be sung? Maybe they should start handing out the anthem handbook before hiring these singers.

Honestly everyone screws it up. The only people that sing it right are the Military chorus members. You may get all of the words right but once you slow down the tempo and put your own personal stamp on the song you have screwed it up.

I don't get upset about it anymore people don't know any better and they are not trying to be disrespectful. Intent is everything as far as I'm concerned. No ill intent, no harm done. It's like being stupid in public, some people just don't know any better.
