KLHJ2 02-10-2011, 07:14 AM These two regulations only apply to Army soldiers, not the general public. The "AR" stands for army regulation. AR 670-1 refers to a soldier's appearance, we don't expect everyone to follow the haircut and mustache guidelines set in this manual.
I know what AR means son. I spent many beautiful years in that fine organization, an organization that was established 1 year prior to this great nation being formed. If anyone has the right to tell you how it should be done then it would be them as far as I am concerned.
As I have said before I don't care how people do it because they mean well.
Remember this though, when "Martial Law" is implemented who carries out the order and granted control? It might be nice to understand how those people do business.
As far as haircut and mustache regulations are concerned I don't expect people to wear them as directed in Army Regulation 670-1, but people would look a hell of a lot more clean cut if they did.
Having said that people don't have to conform to the way that Military Chorus' sing the National Anthem, but it would sound a lot more clean cut if they did.

Wonder if thats where the term "face the music" came from.

Actually that's an Army term as well. Some of our old timers may remember the old Western series "The Rifleman". A disgraced officer is forced to do an about face to the unit drummer and drummed out of the service.

All thats great but I'm happy when all people just stop what they are doing and shut the F*&^ up while the NA is played. I don't care if they remove their hat, face the music, etc... because its their choice but they can show courtesy to others.

While attending a High School football game a couple of years ago, I became completely enraged and swore to never spend a minute there again. The home team coach went for the "shock and awe" factor when he had his team of 14-18 year olds take the field during the National Anthem. Their arche rival soundly beat the crap out of them that night to my delight. Yet there was no public outcry, not a peep in the local paper.
warpaint 02-10-2011, 08:02 PM I read some of the post. All I know is when I hear the National Anthem I not waiting or trying to pinpiont out a mistake. The song just moves me everytime I hear it. It is the first song I every learned word for word, for my 5th grade graduation ceremony. So I enjoyed it and every other ones.
The one complaint I do have is when people speak through it. It really angers me I Feel Like Slapping Them Once Its Over.

Orioles fans... "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
I hate them.
Monkeydad 02-11-2011, 09:46 AM I think in the future they should just have a regular singer, someone who will perform the national anthem as it is written, and sung in the traditional sense.
No need to put all the bullshit on it and all the crazy vocal runs. Just sing it nice and normal.
Some of the best renditions I have heard were from members of the military. They sing it properly and there ARE talented singers outside of MTV.
