Probably just comes down to the coaches trust Cooley more. Davis is known to have some issues regarding work ethic and focus. So if we want to blame anyone blame Davis.I don't doubt that they do, which is why it needs to be said that tight end is only a strength on this team in theory. If you're not going to use your top two tight ends like starters, then all you have is really nice depth. I am not going to hold Fred Davis accountable for clearly outshining the role on the depth chart he has been handed.

I have never been a "trade a TE" guy, and I don't even know if Cooley with grab a fourth round pick if put on the market (maybe with his contract he could get a conditional two), but its apparent that we're simply not going to maximize the value of having two starters at TE while Fred Davis is under contract. I think they like Fred Davis, but I don't know what the offensive coaching staff is going to look like in 2012, and I think that's going to be a big determinant in whether this is his last year as a Redskin.

And I think having depth, even at a position like TE, is highly underrated. Fans don't seem to know how to react when there's an overqualified vet buried at a position behind another vet. I think it's valuable for the football team. But it also means that we won't be extending the contract to pay above market rate for that depth.

The reason for the "trade Cooley" cries is like any good business. You buy low, and sell high. The Patriots are the best at this. I think they are probably the only team that could get Randy Moss for a 4th rounder and turn around 2 years later and get a 3rd out of him. Seymour near the end of his career? Still got a first for him. That's smart business and it sets yourself up for the future. It's not about the move you make today, it's about the move you are going to make in 3 years.

COOLEY is our Franchise TE. Great locker room guy. Hes staying. Your crazy.

THIS TEAM NEEDS TALENT. We need to hold our best players... and add more talent. Bottom line.

After one year? Haven't we learned anything? He didn't even play the full season at that level either.

LL is a baller, not worried about him flopping.

I have one jersey and it's a Cooley jersey.

Therefore we are not trading #47.

End of discussion.

You going to sign Asomugha instead? Good luck.

that may be the case and there are also reports to the contrary so it's kinda hard to say... I don't think that we've seen davis enough to really evaluate on the field differences.. cooley hands seem to be getting worse on him but maybe that was a mcnabb thing, but I can recall several times he had the ball knocked out after the catch, luckily mostly on the sidelines.. looking at his numbers maybe that's overstated I'd have to go back and look again, either way he's a valuable asset but we need to find a way to make the best case scenario for both of our tight ends

Absolutely not. Not even sure where you got that rediculious idea from. You sure haven't seen me say anything in regards to Asomugha.
