Rex Grossman is a great leader who will give the players on this offense opportunities to make plays....He's absolutely fearless and driven to succeed despite what many consider failures in his career. The only quarterback I can think of to play in a super bowl with less career starts at the time of the appearance is Tom Brady. I think Grossman will have more prolific passing numbers than Brad Johnson did in 1999. The Redskins are absolutely a sleeper team, I don't think anybody understands that Rex Grossman is a purely capable quarterback that really knows how to capatalize off the play action. I am very excited about what Rex is going to show to the NFL this season, not many are going to be ready for it.

No, I'm a lifelong Redskins fan from Florida, and I know that Rex Grossman is a very capable quarterback who just had a bad rep.....Kind of stupid the Bears just didn't stick it out with him after he led them to the super bowl his FIRST SEASON as a starter. It's okay though he will be validated soon when he's putting up huge passing numbers this season. Ask Santana Moss or Anthony Armstrong who they want to start I bet they don't say John Beck, they'll tell you they want a true gunslinger like a one Red8RexGrossman!

jonny5dicky:
For 2006 - - the year that Rex Grossman and the Bears made it to the Super Bowl - - here are some facts:
1. That was the ONLY year that Rex Grossman started all 16 games of a season. In every other season, he was either injured or benched for some of the games.
2. Even though I fully believe that the QB Rating scale is a flawed system, it can tell the difference between a "very good game" and a "very bad game". In the Super Bowl season, Rex had 8 very good games where his QB Rating was between 98.6 and 148. That is EXCELLENT!
3. In the same 2006 season, Rex had 6 horrendous games where his QB rating was between 0.0 and 36.8. [Point of reference: JaMarcus Russell on bad days had QB Ratings of about 40.] That is HORRID!
Those stats come from the Bears' Super Bowl Season; they are not cherry-picked from Rex's bad games going season-to-season or from the best games of his career.
My conclusion from that data:
At best, Rex Grossman is wildly inconsistent.
If you want to win those six games where his QB Rating is south of JaMarcus Russell territory, you had better have a dominating defense that can score points on its own AND hold opponents to 10-14 points on a regular basis.
In addition, it would be a very good idea to have a running attack that can give the defense some rest on those days when they are going to have to win the game...

I will say this J. It would surprise me not that Rex gets the start and the remainder of the preseason will determine. I have a hard time embracing your entire assessment of Sexy.....BUT I hope YOU are correct and I am wrong!!

LOL I was just watching Redskins Nation and thought the same thing about Rex. Maybe he will be like Big Ben, with players just bouncing of him?
