one of the most important qualities in a backup qb is ball security. todd collins was an exceptional backup for us because he did not throw a single int (only 2 lost fumbles). in the turnover department, cousins doesn't have an uphill battle vs. rex (24 int, 9 lost fumbles in 17 games)

Every NFL team has to have a quality backup quarterback. It also helps the development of a quarterback when he has a quality supporting cast ala Matt Cassel with 11-5 New England when Tom Brady went down with a season ending injury in 2008.

MS talked about the QB split RG3/Crompton 80/20 that's right. Grossman/Cousins 50/50 I have a problem with this, only because Grossman will be showing/teaching Cousins all his bad habits & wrong reads.

i don't think he will be traded, but a 4th at best, if he is

Yeah, because only high first round draft picks end up being really good NFL quarterbacks. Best Cousins can expect is a long career as a backup. It's hopeless if you're not the first or second QB drafted. The experts always get it right.

The overly defensive position some people take in regards to Cousins is silly.
Only time will tell if Cousins was the 'right' pick or a 'good' pick.
It will depend on how Cousins pans out compared to how the other players that were available pan out.

Can we talk about Cousins as a prospect and leave all the other....

I mean, debates are mostly worthwhile but I'm not sure Cousins deserves 25 pages. Sure there's an opportunity cost to the pick, but it's not likely to be anything significant in the 4th round. As a comparison, the opportunity cost of Mike blowing up the defense when he arrived is metaphysically certain to surpass anything associated with the Cousins pick.

...but anywho, it's only May and we're all a little bored I reckon.

Some have and some haven't That's the point. Nobody knows for sure.

Some have and some haven't That's the point. Nobody knows for sure.right, and i don't think cousins will be traded. if he is traded down the line, i think it will be for a 4th at best. how many backup qbs are traded for a pick in rounds lower than they were drafted?

matt schaub is the only one who comes to mind.

Do you have that the wrong way around? Schaub was drafted 2nd round, and was traded for 2 2nd rounders. Kolb was drafted 2nd round and was traded for a bounty that included a 2nd rounder if I'm not mistaken. Shit even AJ Feeley was traded for a 2nd rounder.

All Cousins has to do is ride the bench for a few years, and play good in limited action, including a couple regular season starts, and someone might start believing the hype. That's how it happens.
