Yeah but a runningback's first priority is to run. Hightower is by far the worst of the 4 runners we can go with this season.
Maybe 20 year's ago. Today with teams passing so much more than running a RB has to pass block and run routes as often as run with the ball.

hightower is better overall factoring pass pro.

btw, morris didn't have a good night. he had 2 good runs, but ended up with 10 rushes for 34 yards (3.4ypc) AND he whiffed on major wright, which resulted directly in the griffin fumble. You can't have one 20 yard run, 8 0-1 yarders and a sack fumble in 10 plays. that's just not getting it done.

I'd take hightower over that any day.

I suggest you re-watch the game.

We have a rookie QB, we better not be adopting the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning style of offense.

A. Morris - 10 Att, 34 yards, long of 21. 3.4ypr

NFL Game Center: Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears - 2012 Preseason Week 2 (http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012081852/2012/PRE2/redskins@bears#menu=highlights&tab=analyze)

why? am i wrong? nfl.com doesn't seem to think so, and here's someone else who found the missed assignment and a quote where he admits he f'd up:
Redskins-Bears: Five observations from Saturday’s game - The Insider - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/redskins-bears-five-observations-from-saturdays-game/2012/08/19/48fc7234-ea1e-11e1-87c7-93316b9dfff3_blog.html)

But Morris admittedly missed his assignment — picking up blitzing safety Major Wright — on the play that resulted in Griffin’s fumble. Morris saw Wright coming, but then the defensive back pulled up, and Morris left the backfield and went on a pass route and Wright pressured Griffin, who was then caught from behind by Israel Idonije. Morris said, “he got me there,” referring to how the veteran threw him off.

so, uh, what exactly did I miss or misrepresent that would be worth watching that again?

Only the Broncos, Texans, 49ers and Jaguars ran more than they threw. It's just not a running league any more.

Rex has looked solid enough in practice, he's not going anywhere. Hell I wouldn't even play him during the preseason. Get RG3 and Cousins all the snaps they can get.Do you think practice is good enough for Rex to get used to throwing to Garcon, Morgan, Paul, etc? Agreed about getting RG3 and Cousins as much reps as possible, just thinking how different playing time is.

I thought Morris did fine...the blocking was absolutely horrible...the Bears shut down everything after they figured out we were run first with RG3...cant blame that on morris...sure he missed a block, but kids in college don't do a lot of pass blocking...that is expected

Frankly, I think you are quite alone in worrying about how many reps Rex gets at this point.

Who really gives a crap?..if Grossman ends up in a game...he will just close his eyes and throw will full confidence and authority to wherever he feels like it. It doesn't really matter where the receivers or defenders are anyways. Why worry about giving him reps..it wont change a thing!
