You haven't seen me wanting to sign some other team's trash or rejects. That much is certain. If we bring in other team's rejects, it should be before training camp so they can EARN their starting spot, not given to them due to a huge contract and recognized name. If they want to bring in Babin in the off-season before camp and not guarantee him a spot, I'm fine with that. (even though I don't think he'll make the roster)

If the Eagles cut Nnamdi I would sign him up right away. Last year he was hurt, this year the Eagles are a mess and he's just caught in a funk.
I would sign him for reasonable numbers but, as others have pointed out, he is past his prime. I think, at this point, he is a solid third corner and an upgrade over C. Griffin. Maybe he can be a solid CB2 not sure if he is a CB1 anymore.
An article printed about, linked somewhere in the forum (probably this thread), indicated he was an excellent technician rather than a speed guy but has lost a step. As a result, he can't make up for his missteps anymore.
Nnamdi looks like he's running in slow motion out there. Sometimes players drop off quick, others it's a slower decline. Looks like he's run straight off the cliff.

Where would Babin play? He isn't a proto 3-4 DE and we're not signing to him move to OLB for 5 games when he doesn't play the position. Babin makes zero sense for us.
He would play only when we rush four - passing situations - we are bottom of the league in sacks and he is exactly what we need. Plus he wont affect the cap for next year.

Hey for a 36+ year old who only played on passing downs...yes thats good. And good means not very good, not great, a tad above average. He was making plays other than sacks.

as for Ruhskins and SFREDKINS posts...wow
I get bashed for saying we should get another pass rusher opposite kerrigan and its he's an overpriced bad FA (who is third in the NFL in the past 3 years in sacks, and gets fumbles and recoveries). But you two are in the Nnamdi boat??? Really? The guy hasn't done squat and look how much he was asking to be paid. Man to man--he sucks. Zone--he sucks. Press zone--he sucks. I know we need CBs, but damn you all don't realize how bad he's been. He's the Haynesworth of CBs
Big difference between Nnamdi amd Babin, Nnamdi has been one of the best Cover CB's in the league, Babin had one good year. Look at the pro-bowl #'s and all-pro awards.

Good idea.
Let's run a 3-4 defense and put a guy in who only does one thing. One of the main pros of the 3-4 is that the OLBs can rush and drop so it makes protections schemes harder to coordinate. Putting in a "rush specialist" essentially mitigates that advantage.

First of all, I said we should pick him up to be a FS. There are a number of cases out there where top CBs that are past their prime have fared very well as safeties (see Charles Woodson with Green Bay).
Second, Nnamdi was basically the best CB in football before coming to the Eagles. Haynesworth was a one hit wonder and obviously a big pr*ck.
Third, no team is going to sign Nnamdi to a big contract. And I didn't suggest this at all.
Fourth, there is a big difference between having a veteran DB adjust to being a FS over an offseason, and bringing a pass rusher who has played as a 4-3 DE his whole NFL career and expect him to adjust to the 3-4 scheme in a matter of days.

Your missing my point. We need an edge rusher on passing downs rite now to make up for Orakpo. We sign him and let him do that than release him next year when Orakpo comes back. It isnt legos but it isnt as black and white as you make it out to be either with the 4:3 3:4. We do have packages now with four down lineman. Babin is certainly an upgrade opposite Kerrigan rite now and it would give Haz alot of flexibility in those situations.

Babin would be an upgrade if we were playing the 4-3. And I am sure he'd prefer playing in a system that he has played his whole NFL career than trying to adjust to a new scheme. Schemes do matter, just ask Andre Carter.

i understand he's not a solution. i'm not saying whether or not i want him here.
i'm just saying, he'd be helpful on 3rd downs rushing the passer opposite of kerrigan, that's all. just a stopgap guy for these final weeks. in passing situations only.
