Monkeydad 10-21-2013, 03:09 PM I thought the call in the end zone was probably a good call, not because the WR dropped the ball just before the hit, but the helmet contact.
The penalty before that, what looked like incidental helmet contact at best on a solid shoulder hit on a WR that was just starting to run with the ball? This should have been any football fans reaction to that call.

Merriweather still has made too many dirty helmet to helmet hits IMO. I hate to wish a guy lose his job, but hope Goodell suspends him or we cut him. Let the Raiders or Seahawks have him.
Agreed, the first one was a clean, shoulder-leading whack.
The second one in the end zone was just stupid in every possible way. It was late after Marshal dropped the ball, it was high, it was at a head with a head....flag that one, but that first one looked fine to me.

I agree. I thought the first one was a clean hit, the second one was a bone-headed move on BM's part. Possibly could have held the Bears to a field goal on that drive.

Well we already knew this. He'll definitely miss the Broncos game, but he may miss the Chargers as well.
Dude deserves it though. Quesiton is who will we throw back there to replace him? Rambo?
Lotus 10-21-2013, 03:34 PM Can't really disagree with anything you've said. But it today's NFL, every single team has issues. I think every single win we get this year won't be a "complete" win....where all three phases click. I'm not losing perspective but that was a great game. 500+ yards and 38 points by the offense, RG3 played his best game, we have an emerging star at TE, Morris and Helu, DHall is playing some of his best ball as a pro...lot's of positives yesterday!
Well put. Our team is built to win high scoring games and that's what we did. We all should be happy.

I don't really think it matters who replaces him. Denver is going to score and score a lot. It's going to come down to whether we can keep up with them, and whether we can get a couple turnovers, and maybe another TD from the defense. I believe the defense has scored 4 times this year.
skinsfan69 10-21-2013, 03:43 PM Some of those calls yesterday were just so pathetic. The NFL might as well be a flag football league at this point.
That Guy 10-21-2013, 04:07 PM the 52-17 box score.

mbedner3420 10-21-2013, 04:46 PM Fred davis in the trading block. Could we get Britt for him?
calia 10-21-2013, 05:35 PM While at 2-4 there's a lot of disappointment to go around, I tend to think that recent trends on offense AND defense are pretty strong (special teams, now that's a widly different story).
Right now, we're yielding up 389 yards a game -- 24th in the league. Yesterday, we gave up 359 yards, and the last two weeks (against the Raiders and against the Cowboys, we did much better). After giving up a zillion yards in the first 3 weeks, our D has improved a good deal. To put it in perspective, if we dropped the average to 359 yards (yeterday's total), we'd be at 18th in the league. While that still isn't anything to brag about, given where we started at two games at about 500 yards, it is real improvement.
And our offense has generated the 4th most yards per game. Yeah, yeah -- I hear folks about the garbage time yards, but yards are yards, and we put up 45 on Chicago. Anytime you put up 45 points on any team in the NFL, you're doing something right.
What has killed us the last few weeks are turnovers and special teams. Special teams has been a killer -- 3 TDs in two weeks. Ugh. That's appalling. And it isn't as though our special teams has generated points; indeed, the most notable thing our teams has done is get a kick blocked by the Raiders. And the turnovers have killed us. We basically gave up a TD to Dallas with one; Chicago scored within 3 plays of the bad pick from RGIII. If, and that is a big if, we clean that up somehow, I think the D is playing well enough -- and the offense is surely playing well enough -- that we can and should rattle off a number of wins from here out. Other than SF, Denver, and the Chiefs, are we really afraid of any other team on our schedule? If we can go the rest of the season losing only to those 3 teams, we will finish 9-7 and that is likely to be enough to win the NFC East.
But we should take this one win at a time. Next up, the Broncos. Let's get after Peyton. The Colts showed how that can work.
NC_Skins 10-21-2013, 05:56 PM Fred davis in the trading block. Could we get Britt for him?
Seeing as he was a free agent this past year, I doubt trading him is a option. In fact, even on the open market, he garnered interest from two teams. (us and bills)
