Think how scary it would be to have Orakpo and Kerrigan lining up on both ends to come after your QB every play.I think we call that our base defense.

It's not working. Time to change things up if you want to wear these colors ever again, Jim.

I'd start:

Jenkins - Cofield - Orakpo

Kerrigan - Fletcher - Riley - Jackson

Hall - Amerson at CB

Doughty - Wilson at S

I really like your idea!

Surprise the Broncos and get your best players on the field.

Orakpo vs. an OG all day long could be sweet.

Jackson is starter material and he's better than Orakpo in pass coverage.

Orakpo and Jackson both coming off the right side. Nice.

Starting the veteran Wilson at S could help a lot.

I really hope Reed Doughty can go.

Aren't the Broncos a lot better vs the run than the pass though?I agree that we're going to have to run a bit to execute our full offense. We're really not talented enough to sit back and chuck it the way Dallas did for an entire half against them.

I don't think it's a secret that the only way to beat the Broncos is for the offense to put up a bunch of TDs early, and then let the defense take advantage of the depleted Broncos OL. Only problem is "score a bunch of touchdowns" is going to be task of execution, rather than something you can design before the game. If only it were that easy.

BTW, I'm watching the Colts-Redskins game from 2010 right now and Garcon just got behind the defense for a first quarter touchdown. We should totally go get that guy.

Have they played against the zone run scheme yet this year? I think Jacksonville is running some zone concepts and MJD had a decent day against them.

To your point Monkeydad, if 2010 is any indication, we're going to be in our sub package more or less the whole game. That means Orakpo and Kerrigan will see a bunch of snaps lined up between the tackles.

If Manning is going to fast pass though, there is no alignment up front that is going to take that opportunity away from them. He's going to keep our DL guessing so it is difficult to get pressure there. It's something he's good at.

If we start off tackling their receivers in open space after the catch, then I think they'll start to draw up longer developing routes, and then Kerrigan and Orakpo will have an effect on the game. If we miss a bunch of tackles early, they'll be on the board quickly and will spend a lot of the game rushing against a light box.

Is this the thread to point out that LaRon Landry, who is not here in part because of his propensity for personal fouls, is rated as a top ten safety this year by PFF? I know a team that could use that kind of player!

Personal fouls? How can you have a personal foul when you go for the knock out hit and miss your target like LL did 90% of the time.

Philly is almost exclusively zone. But since the Broncos are a zone blocking team, they practice against that every day.

There are chunks to be had in the rushing game against anyone that we play, but it probably shouldn't be the focal point of the gameplan this week.

Bad.

Jenkins will start now I guess, with Golston on the other end.

Defense is getting thin but I don't think it makes a difference at this point, they were already too bad to repair.

I really hope Doughty makes it back this week though.

Maybe since we're deep at LB, we should consider moving Kerrigan or Orakpo to DE, preferably 'Rak. I know they've only been 4-3 DEs but they're not getting sacks in this scheme, so we're wasting them. These guys are made to punish QBs and we should put them in whatever position helps them do that.

I'd start:

Jenkins - Cofield - Orakpo

Kerrigan - Fletcher - Riley - Jackson

Hall - Amerson at CB

Doughty - Wilson at S

or go all out after QBs:

Kerrigan - Cofield - Orakpo

Jackson - Fletcher - Riley - Jenkins

Hall - Amerson at CB

Doughty - Wilson at S

Think how scary it would be to have Orakpo and Kerrigan lining up on both ends to come after your QB every play.

If you read the link, you would see that Bowen is still expected to play in Denver.

And Rak is too small to be an effective every down 3-4 DE. If we start him at DE, we might as well just hand Moreno 100+ yards.
