I refuse to give carroll credit. He won a division championship with parcells team before he let that team go to shit. He cheated at usc and jumped ship. And now because of his stadiium gets homefield advantage thruout the playoffs. Sanfran would have beat them at home. I think the denver broncos along with the entire afc would have been outclassed by a handful of nfc teams tonite. I give full credit to the seattle gm for bringing in these players. But most importantly i cannot stand him. Lol thats my take and im sticking to it.

Seahawks are built the right way, but to listen to ESPN guys say there D will be good for the next 7 years is a joke. They are all going to want to be paid, can't keep everyone the test to greatness is if they can get guys to fill into spots when guys leave.

Yea he just won a superbowl where he was the main guy responsible for bringing in a lot of those players. They were tied for the best road record in the NFL this past year. San Fran had a chance to get homefield, but they lost important games they needed to win... two of them at home.

Seattle won it and Carroll did an outstanding coaching job since he got there. If only he had signed with Washington instead of the immortal Mike.

I'm assuming that most of this team will be intact next year, but after that, I believe Okung, Wilson, Sherman, and possibly others will be in line for BIG salary increases. Give Schneider and Carroll credit - they've built this team the right way, through shrewd drafting and a few excellent FA signings.

I would give this guy more credit than Schneider, as soon as he left SF and went to Seattle things changed there. This is what he did in SF before Seattle, impressive. Lure him to DC.

Scot McCloughan–now a Seahawks exec–had it right about the 49ers… and had them built right when he left | Talking Points (http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2014/01/17/scot-mccloughan-now-a-seahawks-exec-had-it-right-about-the-49ers-and-had-them-built-right-when-he-left/)

This was my comment 13 days ago on the /r/nfl subreddit about the Super Bowl.

I think it also comes down to how the refs will call the game. Are they going to allow aggressive play in the secondary? If so, it favors Seattle. During the playoffs, refs tend to keep their flags in their pocket for the most part and let the players play. (kind of like NBA)

This is exactly how it went down too. The refs allowed the aggressive play by the DBs and threw off the timing on Peyton and his WRs.

This is first and foremost why I believe defense and special teams wins you these big games. Refs are too scared to be known as the ref that cost a team to lose so they keep their flags in the pockets for the most part. (which I have no problem with...it's like old school football) Having a top notch offense means jack shit in the playoffs, unlike having that top notch defense. The game changes dramatically on how it's called.

I doubt that it is a joke. The new TV contracts go into effect next year, and will hit the cap in 2015. The cap will be going up in 2015 and each successive year for a while. They will not be able to sign everyone, but will have the chance to sign enough to keep them good. Not like in years past where the cap was rising but slowly. In 5 years, the cap could be a pretty significant jump from the $120 mil it is now and Seattle wont be needing to sign many FA's.
